LPoCF #220 Hetty Clare Christmas Penguins

 Hello again,

Well, we are in the midst of a severe heatwave here in my part of Australia, as we live in a cool climate air conditioning is not usual for any homes! Sydney siders asked us to put the air-con on and were very surprised that we don't have it.

Today brings us to another all new Anything goes Challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are being sponsored by Hetty Clare who kindly allowed us to chose two images for the design team. I chose Christmas Penguins, I am using up another of my scrappy paper strips, all stuck onto snippet of white card and trimmed, I have an envelope on the back of the paper pads to store the snippets from other projects that are too nice to throw away.

Christmas In July

Hello again,

This month we are celebrating Christmas in July over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, each week we will begin a new challenge. We have one lovely sponsor each week, this week we are sponsored by Ching-Chou Kuik who have  kindly given the design team two images to work with. I have used Gingerbread Man Parade to make a very quick and easy Christmas card.

I don't know how many of our local businesses are having Yulefest this year due to Covid-19 and associated restrictions, it is usually quite popular, especially if we have snow predicted for people to enjoy a traditional hot Christmas dinner, with carols and other festivities. While we in the Southern Hemisphere are enjoying traditional hot meals, gathering around a fireplace etc., I guess that those in the Northern hemisphere are enjoying a summer style Christmas ?

Prize:- Same two images Design Team have used

You can see more of her amazing work via any of the below channels
They also run a Facebook challenge in their group

Cocky's Christmas

Hello again,

I'm still working my way through some Christmas creations and this one is all Aussie, Merry Cocky is from Ericraft on Etsy the paper on the box reminded me of one in my stash. I have used a sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 as inspiration..

White Cockatoo's are notorious for their destructive nature, if they can chew it chances are they will... you can always tell where they have been feeding due to the mess left behind. They are not at all against chewing things that are not food including the mortar on rooftops...

Circle, stitched square and tiny star dies

Sketchy Christmas

Hello again,

Well, Mr. Mojo has been absent of late and this is the first card I have felt like creating, I was tidying my craft mess space looking for the card I made earlier on for Mother's Day which will be this coming Sunday here in Australia and I discovered an A4 sheet of mixed images I had already coloured and decided since I had significantly tidied a space I should mess it back up. I found a sketch challenge with the lovely ladies over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 to follow as a little prompt for my mojo.

While my mojo has been AWOL I have been digging up more of the family tree, one lady was the mother of 17 children, not sure how many actually survived though at this point...

Apologies for the picture being a little dark, Autumn has truly arrived, but don't let the spring bulbs know that they are incredibly early flowering...

Here is my card:-

J is for Joy and Jewel

Hello again,

Well there are only a few Christmas cards left for this years current month of Holiday cards challenge at Beccy's Place, I am still flitting back and forth as I complete the alphabet, today I have gone back to J is for Joy, I have used WPlus9 stamp and die combination to create the sentiment and decided to try out my Poppystamps Poinsettia Peace set, I heat embossed the stamps and coloured them with Prismacolor water colour pencils and painted them in pinks and red ending up with two cards, the first is a pretty purple using Kaisercraft 'Jewel' paper pad, the second has a more natural colour palette with the poinsettia in red, with some rescued ribbon from a present.

The photo's have turned out not as bad as I thought, today we are having one whole months of rain according to the weather predictions, an estimated 100ml or close to 4 inches throughout today. People in Sydney have had severe flooding and a number of accidents on the roads. A good day to stay warm and dry inside making cards....

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-
White 12.4x17.5card blanks
Poppycrafts Poinsettia Peace stamp and die
Kaisercraft 'Jewel' and 'Letters to Santa' paper pads

Y is for Yeti or Yowie

Hello again,

In an effort to keep on track with my Christmas cards I have been trying to join in with each of this years month of holiday cards with Beccy from Beccy’s Place, each day bringing a different challenge, todays challenge is …. Y is for Yeti or Yowie, I did contemplate making a yellow Yeti but decided that it looked much better in plain white.

The Yeti or Yowie (Australian mythical creature) is holding on to his Christmas wish list which I added from the Lawn Fawn Baah Humbug stamp set, I found the sentiment online and typed it up to create my own for the card.

I have made a total of 28 cards for the month long challenge a couple of days I made two similar boosting my total for the year.  Beccy is aiming for more than 743 entries this year to blitz last years total… just 10 more cards until we reach that mark....

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 12.5x17.8cm card blank
Sentiment from MFT Jingle all the Way set
Derwent Pencils
White cardstock
Clear embossing ink
Black embossing powder
Paper twine
Striped paper
Scraps- blue, white, silver

X for Xyron

Hello again,

Today has brought us to perhaps the most difficult letter of the alphabet for Christmas, the only thing I could come up with from my collection was from the Baah Humbug stamp set which has a xmas list included, alternatively using twine or similar to form an 'x', then this morning on checking  on the Beccy’s Place blog she had suggested Xyron and X-Press-It, so I used my tiny xyron sticker maker to adhere the sheep to the card and added a single strip of gold glittered X-Press-It tape. My card is slightly skewed on the card, handmade, it some times happens.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 12.6x 17.8cm card blank
Derwent Coloured Pencils
Circle die
MFT pierced fishtail flags die
X-Press-It glitter tape
Scrap green cardstock
Doodlebug Design paper
Memento Tuxedo Black ink

N for Navy and Nativity

Hello again,

Well I have skipped a few days with the challenges here and there and today I am returning to the letter ‘N’ I have gone with N is for Navy and Nativity. I had a few problems making this one, I had it all finished when I realised that the main panel was skewed which lead me to rescue the panel and attach it to another card, it was then to narrow to fit the same card blank and I had to come up with something else. Out came a tent fold card (spine along short side) and you guessed it the panel was too wide which lead to trimming it off bit by bit.. I then decided it looked too plain and dug around in my white scrap bag and found the embossed panel which I cut in half and added to each side.

Here is my card:-
What I used:-
White 12.4x17.4cm card blank
White embossed card (Embossing folder from Snippets Playground)
Impression Obsession Nativity and shepherd dies
White, silver and navy cardstock all from my scrap bags
Memory Box Typewriter Holiday Sentiment stamp
Silver embossing powder
Clear embossing ink
Check ribbon
Adhesives:- Double sided tape and adhesive sheet.

S is for so many things

Hello again,

I am back with another card for this years month of holiday cards with Beccy from Beccy’s Place, today the challenge is to make a card using the letter ‘S’ I had planned on making a card using one of my found coloured images (Santa), but then digging through my supplies I rediscovered my swaggie die, so today my card has Silhouette, sunset, Swaggie (swagman), Santa, sleigh, stars, Southern Cross and Sentiment.

I made a distress oxide ink background spraying lightly with water, then inked the bottom with Black soot ink, die cut the swaggie and Santa using some double sided adhesive sheet, added them to the card, heat embossed the sentiment from Kaisercraft in white embossing powder and added the panel to a card covered in Kaisercraft Basecoat corrugated iron. I would have loved using a die I saw recently which is Aussie made with Kanagroos pulling Santa’s sleigh, but will have to save it for next year… when I added the southern cross to the card with the star stickers I realised one needed to be slightly smaller, I had no more tiny gold stars and used my hand held star punch to make a tiny star from the middle sized one you can see, fiddly but it did the job…

Here is my card:-
What I used:-
White 12.6x17.8cm card blank (5x7”)
Kaisercraft Basecoat paper
Poppystamps Santa’s Sleigh die
White card stock
Black soot, wild honey, Antique linen and festive berries distress oxide inks
Black cardstock scraps
Adhesive sheet
Gold star stickers
Star Hand punch
Kaisercraft Sentiments-Traditional
Clear embossing ink
Seafoam white embossing powder
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, Adhesive sheet

M is for Monkey

Hello again,

Still working my way (out of order) due to my multiple medical appointments that knock me around, on this Beccy’s Place month of Holiday cards, I've rewound the alphabet to the letter ‘M’ (I still haven’t done ‘A’ yet…) I have gone with M is for Monkey!
I am still undecided on the striped paper, it doesn’t seem at all Christmassy but there it was with all the others in the paper pad. The silver stars in the top corner are just part of the sheet.

Here is my card:-
What I used:-
12.6x17.8cm Card blank
White card
Unbranded paper pad from (Kmart)
Kaisercraft nesting hexagon
Kaisercraft sentiment stamp ‘Sentiments Traditional’
MFT pierced fishtail flags die
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
