Christmas in January

Hello again,

Well we are well and truly melting (all week long again) our usual summer temperatures here don't often get above 30C but the heat is coming from the Aussie deserts to the mountains and the coast, roll on Autumn. Can you tell I don't like the heat? The native birds are sensible, out early and then they disappear during the heat, likely down the valley where it is cooler, my poor budgies are not enjoying the heat either, one is quite happy to have a fine mist bottle sprayed all over him several times a day, the other quite likes to come out and get put in the hand basin in the bathroom for a splash around to help cool him down.

I have been working on getting a few Christmas cards done for this years stash and want to try and get 4-6 done each month, I made this card earlier in the month for a DT challenge and had such a nice time creating the scrap edge that I made more and tried out a starburst background which I didn't quite pull off correctly.

Here are two more cards:-

What I used:
White 12.5x17.8cm card blanks
Scrap Christmas papers and card
Faber-Castell and Derwent pencils
Mo's Digital stamp Christmas sheep dog with hat
Make it Craft Floppy Digi Stamp
Impression Obsession Top Edger sentiment die
Naughty or Nice die (not sure of brand)
MFT Pierced oval die
Stamp It Australia 'Wonderful Christmas' stamp
Versa Color 'Raspberry' ink
Kindyglitz red glitter
Gold gel ink pen

I would like to enter these cards in:-

CBD Food and Drink

Hello again,

Today brings us to a new Challenge for Crafting by Designs, we would love you to join in our challenge, we have one fabulous sponsors this week Doctor Digi will be giving the lucky winner their choice of 2 Digi stamps from their store.

PRIZE 2 Digi Stamps

I have started off my New Years Christmas card collection, colouring Christmas Chris LINK, dressed in a reindeer costume pinching some Christmas Pud, adding some kindy glitz to his nose and the cherries on the pudding. A simple top edger die cut sentiment and stamped quote added to finish the card off.

I have used up some of my many Christmas scraps after coming across a brilliant idea from Heather of Wire Wrapture the strip used on this card is a mixed bag of leftover patterned paper and I will admit that I thought I had ensured all edges were squared off but must have missed one which then put the next couple of pieces out of square… I had a lovely time creating extra strips using both mixed paper pads and then some where I have stuck to the one designer pad. I think I may have made a bigger mess making these strips, I was supposed to be tidying my desktop…. And I can just imagine using this idea for many other types of cards….

This challenge is open until January 15th, you can add your project by using the Linky tool over at Crafting by Designs. Please be sure to link your project back to us.

Here is my card:-

Final Christmas cards for 2018

Hello again,

Well I didn't anticipate that it would take me this long to make a new blog post in December, but with all the goings on and attempting to avoid the heat box I craft in during the hot summer weather today is the first time I have managed to find some time to blog. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year, Sydney is already on countdown for the big fireworks display, people already staking out their vantage points. Christmas Day down under was a hot day very much like Santa in the scene on the two cards below and there is no apparent end to the hot summers days we are having which are unusually hot for our area.

I have been making some changes to my blog in the wake of Google+ closing down in the next few months and as that was the only comment system available when I started my blog, in a simple click to swap to the now available blogger commenting system all previous comments have vanished, never to be seen again.

Two final Christmas cards which went to my city physio and local acupuncturist, this was my bank tellers favourite card last year and she has spent all of this year trying to find the red rubber version of the Aussie Santa from Make It Crafty which she found in November at a craft show.

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-
White 12.6.17.8cm card blanks
Cloud papers from 6" paper pads
Distress Oxide ink background (Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans)
Kaisercraft sand and boardwalk paper

Scrap papers, grey, off white (metallic sheen), sandstone and Christmas patterned
Make It Crafty Aussie Santa Digi
Beccy's Place Sentiment stamp (Aussie Christmas)
Fiskars corner rounder
Faber-Castell and Derwent pencils
Wink of Stella (liberally over beard and tinnie)
Clear embossing ink
Black embossing powder

J is for Joy and Jewel

Hello again,

Well there are only a few Christmas cards left for this years current month of Holiday cards challenge at Beccy's Place, I am still flitting back and forth as I complete the alphabet, today I have gone back to J is for Joy, I have used WPlus9 stamp and die combination to create the sentiment and decided to try out my Poppystamps Poinsettia Peace set, I heat embossed the stamps and coloured them with Prismacolor water colour pencils and painted them in pinks and red ending up with two cards, the first is a pretty purple using Kaisercraft 'Jewel' paper pad, the second has a more natural colour palette with the poinsettia in red, with some rescued ribbon from a present.

The photo's have turned out not as bad as I thought, today we are having one whole months of rain according to the weather predictions, an estimated 100ml or close to 4 inches throughout today. People in Sydney have had severe flooding and a number of accidents on the roads. A good day to stay warm and dry inside making cards....

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-
White 12.4x17.5card blanks
Poppycrafts Poinsettia Peace stamp and die
Kaisercraft 'Jewel' and 'Letters to Santa' paper pads

Clear embossing ink
Silver, black and white embossing powders
Prismacolor water colour Pencils (+water)
Apron lace edge die
ribbons and silver thread
MFT Hand lettered Christmas sentiment
Sequins and tiny flat backed rhinestones

E is for Embossing

Hello again,

I had a very quick tidy of my desk and found the scrap of distress oxide background that I used on these two cards and decided to use it up rather than file it away for later, where I would undoubtedly forget about it completely. I have used a new stamp I bought last year at a craft show from Crafty Individuals which I inked up in clear embossing ink and then heat embossed it in white embossing powder, I used the other end of the scrap to heat emboss both the large and small holly from Kaisercraft ‘Holly’ stamp and die cut the sentiment panel out before layering it on some silver embossed paper.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White 12.6x17.8cm (5x7”) card blank

Distress oxide background (wilted violet, picked raspberry and peacock feathers) (scrap)

White cardstock (large scrap)

Silver embossed paper (scrap box)

Memento tuxedo black and clear embossing ink pads

White embossing powder
MFT Cross Stitched rectangle dies

Kaisercraft ‘Holly’ clear stamp

Crafty Individuals sentiment stamp

Clearly Besotted simple saying stamp

Black fine line pen

Clear sequins

Adhesives Double sided tape and foam tape

Beary Christmas

Hello again,

A beautiful sunny spring day today, all of our fruit trees are in full bloom and we are looking forward to a crop of peaches and cherries over the next few months. I’m still going on my Christmas cards, perhaps I should check in on how many more I have actually made now. Todays card features a cute little bear from Bugaboo. Confession time, I couldn’t bring myself to cut into a whole square of paper just for the thin brown strip and used the patterned waste edge from the paper pad…. I am joining in with Beccy's Place month of Holiday cards this one being 'B' is for Bear

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 17.8x12.6cm card blank (5x7”)
Papers from Pebbles Home for Christmas Paper pad
MFT Fishtail Flags die
MFT Pierced circle die
Faber-Castell and Derwent pencils

Christmas in Spring

Hello again,

A lovely Spring day here in Australia, we have been treated to a cloudless sky all day today. I have finally found some time to type up two of my Christmas cards I made earlier this month.

Here are my two cards:

On this first card I have used some of my Kaisercraft paper pad and I think a piece of paper from a magazine, along with a cute Santa image from Digi Stamp Boutique which used to have its own store but is now with Lily of the Valley, who are sadly having to close down all their digital stamps come the end of September.

On the second card I have used another of Digi Stamp Boutique's cute Santa images, a white embossed panel and some scraps from my Christmas bag, I even used the strip leftover after cutting the scalloped border with my border punch.

What I used:-
2 white 12.6x 17.8cm card blanks
Kaisercraft 'Yuletide' papers
Magazine Freebie paper
Snippets of Christmas papers
Embossing folder from China
MFT Stitched Square and Fishtail Flags dies
Digi Stamp Boutique Cute Santa images
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
LOTV Christmas sentiment  stamp
Stamp-It Australia 'Long Christmas' sentiment stamp
Black and Gold embossing powders
Clear embossing ink
Pearls and Sequins from my stash
