Christmas Kittens

Hello again,

Well after several weeks away from my blog, I have shared seven birthday cards for the coming year in Bugaboo’s sixth birthday celebration and now it must be time to get a head start on the year’s Christmas cards.

I have combined the Stamp of the Month stamp from From the Heart Stamps a really cute pair of kittens and a sketch challenge from the 12 Months of Christmas to create my card and I'm using up some paper which I've had for ages.

If you would like to join in with the From the Heart Stamps, Stamp of the Month Challenge you can purchase the Cozy Kittens image and sentiment set and the next challenge image will be emailed to you for free alternatively buy $10 worth of digi's and enter the code found here to receive the digi for free!

I have cut and scored my own card since I have a stack of envelopes I bought and no cards actually fit, so dimensions are 11.5cm x 17.5cm to fit a 12cm x 18cm envelope… you will probably be seeing several more cards in this size until envelopes are gone…

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
First Edition Paper Pad:- Christmas Village
White Card stock cut to 11.5 x 17.5cm
My Favourite Things Stitched Rectangle Die
My Favourite Things Pierced Fishtail Flags

Season’s Greetings

Hello again,

Well, I've had a whole week off creating Christmas cards! I will soon need to turn my attention to creating gift card/cash holders, boxes, tags and wrap items in general, otherwise I think I will have way too many cards for Christmas this year...

It has been very cold and windy here and I have refused to go out in it too much while recovering from another infection, I even slept right through my alarm clock yesterday morning, just as well I didn't have any appointments to get too.

On with the card making!

I have been enjoying the month long challenges on offer with the lovely ladies over at 12 months of Christmas Link-up where you can choose to participate in the challenge or just link-up two (or more) Christmas cards and collect a gorgeous digital paper from Lisa and Monica. This months challenge is Ornaments, each year I make beaded decorations as small gifts for neighbours, colleagues and my friendly local bus drivers. I horrified some, one year hiding a Christmas Spider ornament in a milk carton gift box!

Here's my latest creation:

What I used:-
Green Card stock to make Square Card blank 14cm
Design paper from stash brand unknown
American Crafts card stock ‘Rouge’

A Real Christmas in July

 Hello again…

Well today is the last day of the Christmas in July Challenge over at Bugaboo’s Catch the Bug blog, today’s Challenge is to use this week’s freebie Digi AND choose a recipe from a variety of nine different Present boxes. I have chosen to use box nine the last one on the end, Ribbon, Image and Stitching.

On the weather front yesterday we awoke to a massive dump of snow for the area I live in making our neighbourhood in to a true Winter Wonderland.

Friends in other towns had over 30cm of snow but we got a little less around 20cm over everything, but it never lasts long and most had melted before the end of the day leaving little patches here and there in the deep shady areas in our yard. I simply have to share:-)

Angels we have heard on high...

Hello again...

Well, what do you do when the local electricity company decides to replace the power poles in your area and there is no power for a day in winter? ... well I got some bits and pieces printed out and ready, then lit the fireplace and spent a day warm beside the fire. I now have a bag full of sentiments which I die cut, a coloured page or two of images and three more cards to add to the stash of Christmas cards I have already made this year... and guess what they're doing it again in a fortnight...

Okay so I am joining in with the ladies at Case-ing Christmas again and this week Rocky made a fabulous card featuring a lovely die cut Snowman, cool blue papers, musical script, lovely ribbon and stitching which you can see here at the current challenge

I have gone with featuring a die cut image and have used a gorgeous angel die from Marianne Creatables which you can make a 3D paper angel that will stand on its own. I have trimmed her down to fit my card and gone traditional with the colour palette.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
10.5cm x 14.9cm white card blank
Glitter paper

Triple Time

Hello again...

Well this week I am again combining a few challenges.

This weeks challenge over at Case-ing Christmas was a fabulous card featuring some triple time stamping and was made by Anita, you can see Anita's original creation here at Case-ing Christmas current challenge #20.
Hazel has challenged us to use some of our favourite things over at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge #229.
The ladies at Glitter n Sparkle would like us to use some ribbon challenge number #137.
Finally Sparkles Christmas Challenge this month is Tag you're it #52.

Now I'm not really into stamping or particularly good at it if I buy stamps it's generally sentiments. I always seem to end up with gaps in my images and bits missing round the edges, but still I decided to give it a go with some stamps from Australian Simply cards #74 a Spellbinders Christmas Creation stamp set. I have opted for two colours and gone non-traditional again.

I stamped the larger image first before adding the snowflakes, I then decided that there was too much open space and masked off the images and added the swirly stamp from the edges of the large image to fill in some of the gaps adding extra around the edges too. I inked the edges of the tag die and wish I had also done the sentiment strip to make it more obvious.

Here's my card:

The purple backing card seems a little grey in the photo, not quite so dark in reality.

What I used:-
14cm Card blank
Deep purple 'Weave textured' card- generic card stack
White card
Spellbinders Stamp set- Christmas Creations
Snowflake from a different Christmas set -unknown
Kaisercraft Modern Christmas Stamp set
Swirl is from flower set Australian Simply Cards #79

Joy

Hello again…
Today I am sharing my latest make for the current Case-ing Christmas Challenge; this week Daen’ys was the designer of the case card, which I have to admit although I came up with multiple ideas I had trouble getting it to look just right, I ended up taking my inspiration from the layout with a little tweak, Daen’ys colour palette and using birds as my focus.

I have used a background stamp for the first time, even managing to pattern match to complete the length of the card despite the length of my acrylic block! The birds were cut out of white coral textured paper, deep red hand-made wood textured paper and pale blue card which I added texture to with my Swiss dot embossing folder, rather than running through my machine I pressed firmly down over the bird a few times. Unfortunately both the coral and wood textured papers were squashed flat whilst die cutting :-(

Using up the left over printed background and a few more scraps I also created another gift tag, turning the Madeleine Bird into a robin.

What I used for my Card:-
White Card blank 10.5cm x 15cm
Kraft Card ‘Weave’ texture
Frost White Colorbox ink pad
Kaisercraft ‘Morocco’ background stamp
Memory box die ‘Madeleine Bird’
Blue, Red and white scraps of paper and glitter card
Ranger Liquid Pearls ‘Silver Pearl’
MFT- Pierced Fishtail
Sentiment from Pink Petticoat

For tag:-
Leftover card from above project
Fiskars Corner Rounder
Brown paper and red glitter scraps
Scrap of paper lace (self-adhesive)
Scrap red ribbon
Hole punch
Ranger Liquid Pearls ‘Ruby Red’
Twine

Case-ing Christmas #13

Hello again...

Well this week Judy made the most glorious Christmas Card to case over at Case-ing Christmas, which you can see here:

I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw Judy's card...

I made my own background paper using violet, aqua and ultra deep blue acrylic paint, first wetting down the paper then adding dots of paint randomly over the surface before dragging a wide brush through the paint to blend them together. When the paint dried I sprayed some white pearlescent ink over the surface, later I added some stars in two sizes in Metallic silver ink, before trimming to size.

Wow is Mirror board hard to photograph! I kept getting my camera showing up in the reflection. I hope that you can see the star is silver and not blackish which is what I can see in the photo's.

What I used:
White 15cmx10.5cm card blank
Metallic purple paper (gift wrap)
Silver Mirror board Star (from Educational Supplier)
MFT small Fancy flourish
Mpress rectangle die
Sentiment from Pink Petticoat's Tiny Christmas Sentiment
Silver gel ink pen- doodling around the edge
Metallic Silver ink
Star stamps
Violet, Aqua & Ultra Deep Blue Acrylic paints
Extra white card
Scrap silver papers
Sticky foam pads & double sided tape

Tiddly Ink

Hello again...

Here's a not so little card I have made for two of the current Christmas Challenge blogs, Crimbo Crackers requests no patterned paper and over at Christmas Card Challenges this week is Anything goes.

My card  is a 5x7" white card blank which I picked up at craft online as a set of 50, kraft paper, printed sentiment from Pink Petticoat, a strip of washi tape and a Tiddly inks digi stamp 'Christmas Pixie' I also have this as a clear stamp from a magazine but alas it has never seen ink as I never seem to get a complete image, but I am getting better.

A Very Vibrant Christmas...

Hello again...

Two cards in one day! I am again joining in with the current Jingle Belles challenge and this fortnight they have given us a photo for inspiration which is below

I  had a moment when I first saw the image, but then I remembered that I had a DCWV stack of brightly coloured paper!

I was inspired by the colours that are shown in the photo and also the swirly design on the place-mats.

I have been wanting to use my first background die to create a Christmas Card although imagined slightly differently

Here is my take on the photo...

Unfortunately, my photo doesn't show up the teal all that well.

I mounted the MFT Sun-Ray die on to a purple card blank before inlaying pieces from a second set, the tree is a Marrianne Craftables-Christmas Tree and the star topper is from a second Marrianne Craftables set (angel with star) cut out on glitter paper as was the Memory Box- Medium flourish, I have again used a sentiment from Pink Petticoat cut out with MFT- Sentiment strips how I wished they had made them transparent so you could see where you are placing the text. Before finishing of with some sequins and adhesive rhinestones.

I am entering this card in

Stockings were hung...

Hello again...

Thank you to all of the wonderful ladies over at Case-ing Christmas who last week selected my entry in Case-ing Christmas #6 as 'Santa Supreme'!
I was very surprised to see my own card come up on the blog feed. I may have been making cards for many years having first made cross-stitched designs which I learnt to mount, then diversifying into varying boxes to place handmade beaded decorations (I'll include a picture of some once the tail end of the two cyclones blows over--very glad not to live in Qld- I'd rather a bit of rain than the whole shebang) then most recently discovering digi stamps combined with die-cuts, I have never really thought that my cards were anywhere near as nice as the many I see on-line, so Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my recent win has truly made my day.

Okay enough rambling, on to this week's card Case #8

This week the lovely Cohenna created the card below for us to case:

I love the subtle texture and who doesn't love a good Christmas Stocking, and some bling

Here's my take on Cohenna's card

I have of course gone with the stocking, and basic layout of Cohenna's card, I have used Kaisercraft 6" paper pad called Christmas Collections which was free with a magazine to create the stocking and the die-cut leafy sprig (Memory Box), I have added some tiny pearls to the greenery and a bow also from a magazine, the sentiment is again from Pink Petticoats tiny Christmas sentiment  set, the background paper is from a second Kaisercraft set which I picked up extra cheap after the end of Christmas sales- 'Yuletide' which I embossed with a Darice holly vine folder and carefully inked the raised sections and then around the outside of the sentiment strip, String from Hemptique -I added knots can you see them?

I am entering this card into two challenges
