LPoCF #260 Polkadoodles

 Hello again,

I hope your weather is being much nicer than ours, we have been stuck inside due to daily rain, on the days it does not rain it is still too cold to dry the washing on the line. A town about 20mins away had a large sandstone cliff give way, 200,000 tonnes, thankfully not at a time people may have been rock climbing. We are expecting snow in the area, in towns at a higher elevation.

I have a few exercises to do to build my shoulder in the hopes I will be able to manage crutches so I can have my ankle surgery, we have 4 steps to get onto the porch, one extra to get into the house, physio has also suggested shuffling up the stairs on my backside, getting moveable stairs to raise me high enough to sit on a chair, then manage only the step into the house, this will still need a degree of shoulder stability.

On to my card, Today brings us to another all-new Anything goes challenge with my team mates at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Polkadoodles, who gave the team two digi stamps to work with. I have used Parkie Polar Bear and Theo Penguin to make a Christmas Card.

Butterfly Thank you

Hello again,

As a part of the set of cards I was requested to make for a friend she wanted four Thank you cards included this is the first of them I am sharing a super quick, clean and simple design. This uses some pretty pearlised design paper from the paper mill, scraps of salmon and black cardstock, looking at it now I think I should have made the butterflies more centred in the main panel... I have made one of these before using different colours as a quick thank you card for the ladies at a cemetery where we had been doing some family history research.

Here is my card:

What I used:-

White 10.5x14.8cm card blank

Salmon and black scrap cardstock

Pearlised butterfly design paper

Lawn Fawn sentiment die

Adhesives:- Double sided tape, adhesive sheet

Y is for Yeti or Yowie

Hello again,

In an effort to keep on track with my Christmas cards I have been trying to join in with each of this years month of holiday cards with Beccy from Beccy’s Place, each day bringing a different challenge, todays challenge is …. Y is for Yeti or Yowie, I did contemplate making a yellow Yeti but decided that it looked much better in plain white.

The Yeti or Yowie (Australian mythical creature) is holding on to his Christmas wish list which I added from the Lawn Fawn Baah Humbug stamp set, I found the sentiment online and typed it up to create my own for the card.

I have made a total of 28 cards for the month long challenge a couple of days I made two similar boosting my total for the year.  Beccy is aiming for more than 743 entries this year to blitz last years total… just 10 more cards until we reach that mark....

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 12.5x17.8cm card blank
Sentiment from MFT Jingle all the Way set
Derwent Pencils
White cardstock
Clear embossing ink
Black embossing powder
Paper twine
Striped paper
Scraps- blue, white, silver

X for Xyron

Hello again,

Today has brought us to perhaps the most difficult letter of the alphabet for Christmas, the only thing I could come up with from my collection was from the Baah Humbug stamp set which has a xmas list included, alternatively using twine or similar to form an 'x', then this morning on checking  on the Beccy’s Place blog she had suggested Xyron and X-Press-It, so I used my tiny xyron sticker maker to adhere the sheep to the card and added a single strip of gold glittered X-Press-It tape. My card is slightly skewed on the card, handmade, it some times happens.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 12.6x 17.8cm card blank
Derwent Coloured Pencils
Circle die
MFT pierced fishtail flags die
X-Press-It glitter tape
Scrap green cardstock
Doodlebug Design paper
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Clear embossing ink
Black embossing powder
Adhesives: Double sided tape, Foam dots and Xyron Sticker maker

Rose Birthday

Hello again,

Seems like ages since I was last out here on my blog, I have had a much easier recovery post repeat surgery in mid August, so hopefully I get good news when I got back to the specialist this week... One of our family history friends is celebrating her birthday today and we gave her this card along with a new azalea plant which we happily found out will replace one that recently died in her garden.

I messed around with some scraps of card deciding on just which colour to make the rose, once I had settled on Raspberry versa color, I inked the stamp up carefully cleaning off the ink from the leaves and stem. Stamping first the flower portion before cleaning and reinking the leaves and stem in Olive versa color and stamping. I used MFT pierced fish tail flag die to cut the rose out then dug around in my large scrap file for the gold mirri card, found some deep pink cardstock and a wide striped paper from my stash.

I managed to smudge the ink on the rose, thankfully it blends in though. Apologies for the photo quality this one is the best of a bad bunch...

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 5x7" card blank (12.6x17.8cm)
Heidi Swapp Marquee love paper
Darkroom Door Rose stamp (Full Bloom Vol 1)
Rasperry and Olive Versa Color ink pads
Gold mirri, black, white and deep pink cardstock from scrap files
Lawn Fawn Happy Birthday sentiment die
Tiny self adhesive gems
Fiskars Corner rounder punch
Wplus9 Scalloped border die

Easter gift bags

Hello again,

I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter long weekend, indulged in some Hot Cross Buns and some delicious eggs or bunnies.... strangely I didn't miss the eggs but the smell of the hot cross buns was great, still sticking to my AIP and low histamine diet so my treats were coconut butter melted down and made into chick and Easter egg shapes with the help of a silicone mould.

Apologies for not being around much, or commenting often the last few weeks, I've been unwell with my pain issues and spent time digging in the family tree, helping Mum sort some of the families out that I have progressed with at a faster pace than she could keep up.... and Mum helping me with people she has been working on that I haven't done yet.

I made two bags for Mum and Dad who of course can eat both chocolate and hot cross buns. Filled with a few eggs and a bunny for each, the heat started to have an effect of the consistency of the eggs and some ended up in the fridge.

Here are the two bags:-

What I used:-
White and kraft paper bags
Pink and blue card and paper scraps
Checked paper from stash
Pastel Basics paper
Derwent and Faber-Castell pencils
Bugaboo image Easter egg basket
Freebie Bunny stamp from Magazine website (not sure if still available)
Clearly Besotted sentiment
Hero Arts Happy die
Lawn Fawn Riley's alphabet
Pink bow from stash
Flowers from stash
Mini Apron lace border die from China (a Highly addictive and cheap supplies for craft) 😉
Cross stitched oval die from China
MFT grass die

Happy Bird-day

Hello again,
Well, long time no see! I’ve had a few big trips to the city to see specialist doctors and physios leaving me exhausted for a few days after each one, the doctor has altered my diet again so now off all grains, seeds, nuts, nightshades, dairy and fermented foods, trying to see if I am reacting to natural histamines in foods along with plant proteins that I’ve been off since April.
I did find some time to make a few Christmas cards for my stash and I’m only just finding the time to blog them along with todays card, a birthday card for my niece who turned 12 late last month
featuring three of Bugaboo Stamps images– Birthday Bird 2, Birthday Bird 3 and Birthday Bird 4 which I won during their birthday celebrations last year and coloured at some point in time, found them sitting with a bunch of images I have coloured…

I dug into my scraps box and unearthed some brightly coloured card stock pieces which worked well with the colours I had used then hit one of the Sugar ‘N’ Spice paper pads from Spotlight and found a nicely and co-ordinating striped paper, finished the card off with two orange flower brads from my stash, wink of Stella over the cupcakes, shine of the balloons and for fun on all the little birds eyelids. I backed some blue cardstock with double sided adhesive sheets and cut Happy Birthday sentiment with a Lawn Fawn die.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White C7 card blank 12.6x17.8cm or 5x7”

Orange, yellow and blue cardstock from scrap box

Derwent and Faber-Castell coloured pencils

Sugar ‘N’ Spice paper pad

Brads from stash

Wink of Stella

Lawn Fawn Happy Birthday die

Hedgie Christmas

Hello again,

I had my last session of physio for the year today in Sydney, no point taking my camera with me to show you anything exciting, except maybe the strange giant matchsticks we saw as the train whizzed by… here is a link to the Matchsticks a sculpture…..

On the way back to the station we stopped off at Westfield and I couldn't stop myself from going in to Riot art store, just for a look... I came out with a bead storage box, soon to house a myriad of sequins and tiny bits, and a set of 23 sentiment stamps which were 50% off making them just $3 and it included a thin stamp block...

On to todays card the challenge for day four was to make a card keeping it simple and using no design papers.
Here is my card:-

What I used:-
Bugaboo image
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
White 12.6 x 17.8cm card blank (5x7”)
Lavender and Amethyst AC cardstock
Scrap card

For the Chef

Hello again,

Today I am sharing another card I made for my Mum's friend who requested a card for her daughter in law who enjoys cooking, after thinking about things for awhile I decided to use a chef's hat as the focus with some great paper from my stash of Doodlebug designs. I have elongated a chef's hat pattern from an old Cards for Men mini magazine from Papercraft Inspirations.

I did not have to attach any sequins exactly where they ended up because of glue issues ;-) not at all!

Here is my Card:-

What I used:
White card blank 10.5cm x 14.7cm
Doodlebug Design Papers from stash
Iridescent yellow sequins
MFT stitched circle die
MFT pierced fishtail flag die
Various scrap papers to create hat and egg lift
Yellow Ochre Color box inkpad
Black fine line pen
Memento Tuxedo Black inkpad
Lawn Fawn Riley’s Alphabet to create sentiment
Adhesives:- Double-sided tape, Diamond Glaze & foam tape

Bugaboo Christmas in July Recipe Day 5

Hello again,

Well we are past the half way mark in this years annual Christmas in July celebration and challenge week, today brings us to Humour me Wednesday and a recipe challenge.

Recipe:
Make it Funny (Crabby Cat and Sentiment)

This month Paulette has join forces with Desire from her Design Team to host an all new Challenge- Anything goes with a TLC image or sentiment challenge.

Here’s my card:-
