Ho Ho Hot!

 Hello again,

Today the sentiment on this card rings true, we are in the midst of a heatwave, fourth day above 30C.

I am still working my way through some of the prompts for Beccy's Place Annual month long Holiday Cards, of Beccy's Sandy Christmas images, I found some clear stamps that are new too! While looking at Black Friday  sales. I scrolled through my Pinterest Sketches board for a suitable sketch I found this sketch from a lady called Tina and her blog called My Therapy, My Creations and decided that the Sandman with Surfboard would look good.

Here is my card: -

Masked Stencilling

 Hello again,

I am trying out another new to me technique with the lovely ladies over at Group of Seven, this month it is Masked Stencilling, I tried out a few different stencils and masks and I think as long as the stencil reaches the edges of the masked shape and you can clearly see the masked area...

I have made two cards, with many, many attempts that I have put aside for now....

Star Stencil with a curve cut from junk mail.

Bird in Mandala, part of me wants to colour the patterns on the bird, another part says leave it be...

What I used

Star Stencil (Darkroom door, I think)
Big W mandala Stencil
Magazine Stamp-Bird
Lili of the Valley Large Christmas Greetings
Distress Oxide inks- prize ribbon, picked raspberry, seedless preserves, wilted violet, cracked pistachio
Memento Tuxedo black ink
Clear Embossing ink and pen
Silver embossing powder
Black paper, silver paper

Torn Edge Scene

 Hello again,

I am again joining the ladies at Group of Seven Card makers with their most recent gallery calling for torn edges, I have used two of the Woodware Clear Nativity Silhouette set and a Distress Oxide blend from Kristina Werner, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Seedless Preserves, with Black Soot to stamp and ink in the torn edge. My torn edge is from the back of an old Christmas card, having used a tag die to re-use the card front for gift tags.

Stamped images and sentiment are clear heat embossed, sprayed with a mini mister from Crafts-4-U from one of the big craft stores at the Aussie Shows, a few larger dots added.

Here is my card

What I used
White 12.6x 17.8cm card blank
Woodware Nativity Silhouette stamps
MFT Bitty Holiday Wishes (maybe retired)
Distress Oxide inks Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Seedless Preserves, Black Soot
Clear embossing powder
Torn Edge (Christmas card back)

We have been busy, the ceiling inside my built-in-robe got a large back flow from the roof gutters, resulting in the too high to reach shelf being infested with mould. Ceiling is down and the roofing people are coming in a fortnight to repair the outside issues, before we can even attempt to replace the plasterboard ceiling.

Thank you for looking in...
Have a wonderful week...

Two of a Kind

Hello Again,

I am back with another pair of cards, this time using unusual colours for Christmas, I inked an A4 sheet with Distress oxides, I used a scrunched up nappy wipe to add interest to the ink before over doing the water spray over a star stencil. Large stars are supplies I bought from a toy/craft supply store while working in a preschool, I think there must be about 5 of each of the five colours left to use up... added a doodled border in metallic purple, the silver pen appears to have dried out, stored in the same packet.

What I used:

MFT Sentiment stamp
Prize Ribbon, Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers
Clear embossing ink
Silver sparkle Embossing powder
Star Stencil
Purple Gel Ink pen

Two Christmas cards

 Hello again,

I've managed to make two Christmas cards still using the scrappy bits of one paper pad from Doodlebug Designs 'north pole' there is maybe enough scraps for another card or two, a few squares I've die-cut in the past and then some narrow strips.

I am booked in for my first covid vaccine tomorrow, I was not able to book an appointment until early July and then the wait for the two nearest practices offering the jabs was the last few days of October, my local GP clinic finally got offered some of the vaccine for my age group and I was able to bring my appointment forward by one month. With the current lockdown (3months) rules lifting for vaccinated Sydneysiders before our area had access to the vaccine, locals are not happy that tourists will be able to visit our area when we have had less opportunity to have the vaccine. One of the two clinics actually wrote in to the local newspaper that there had been no vaccines offered for three weeks due to the doses being redirected to Sydney. whinging over....

Here are my two cards:-

What I used:-
White 17.8x12.6cm card blanks
Doodlebug Design 'north pole' paper pad
CCD quilt die
Oval, circle and scalloped circle dies
Red, grey and green cardstock
Green brad
MFT 'hand-lettered holiday greetings' and 'Hand-lettered Christmas' stamps
Colorbox Ruby ink pad
Clear embossing powder
Adhesives:- DS tape, PVA glue

Couple of Cards

 Hello again,

I'm enjoying a couple of much cooler days after a week long heat wave 33C+, my poor budgies are all fluffed up trying to keep warm (14C) and have started moulting... while running back-up on my computer this morning I decided to make another Christmas card for my stash. This one is number 8 for the year...

This card is a total scrap/snippet job I stamped the dog onto a snippet of white card stock and heat embossed in black powder before scribbling with watercolour pencils on another scrap of card and painting them onto the image. I die cut the sentiment from a scrap of silver paper and on the photo the Christmas looks a little lost against the background, not so bad IRL. The holly and berries were cut from some more scraps from Doodlebug papers.. the green leaves are from a different paper pad there are flowers on the back....

MFT Deck the Howls stamp set
Doodlebug North Pole/Santa Express Papers
Scrap silver paper with Adhesive sheet on back
Spellbinders 'Christmas' sentiment die
MFT 'Wishes' sentiment die
MFT Stitched inner/outer rounded rectangle die
Cottage Cutz Holly and berries die
Wink of Stella on ornaments

I would like to enter this card in:

I have also made one birthday card using my distress oxide inks smooshing them on my gelli plate, spritzing with water, heat drying before moving on to the next colour. I then using the same colours to paint the heat embossed butterfly adding a tiny drop of water so the colours are brighter inside the stamped image.

edit... not sure how but forgot to add the watermark over my card...

Katzelkraft Daisy Butterfly
Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Fossilised Amber
Clear embossing ink
Whispers Opaque and black Embossing powder
Pink, white, silver card
MFT Essential Sentiments stamp
MFT Pierced fishtail flag die
Waffleflower C7 layered stitched dies

I hope you have a wonderful weekend...

Merry Fishmas

Hello again,

Many thanks to those of you who have asked if we are safe from the Bushfires currently burning in NSW, the nearest fire to us is about 50km away and is mostly burning in deep bushland where there are few houses and settlements, it has currently burnt through 189,980 hectares of mostly bushland. We did have a smaller fire closer to home, three towns away which unfortunately started after a house fire, it burnt through just 77 hectares of bush they lost two sheds and a caravan, (information courtesy of my neighbours 17yo son, who is a bushfire fighter with our local brigade) before it was extinguished. Thankfully this fire was in a southern valley which doesn't tend to burn during the summer months when the winds are mostly from the north.

I have been a little naughty, doing some extra colouring (and gardening, but that's another story). I bought this digi from Just Ink lined ages ago with the intention of making a Christmas card for my Uncle who always asked if he could go fishing in our now empty/broken fish tank, a standing joke each time he came to visit... Just Ink Lined appears to have closed down.... I have hidden the hanging hole in the paper pad under the sentiment

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 12.6x17.8cm card blank
blue polka dot paper
Just Ink Lined 'A Christmas Fish'
Faber-Castell and Derwent coloured pencils
scraps of black cardstock
Fiskars scalloped border punch

I have used some of my stamps from home to create two cards for my stash, I have used Distress Oxide inks in Peacock Feathers, picked raspberry, seedless preserves and wilted violet many splashes and squirts of water to create a A4 sheet of background paper and used a die I bought last October from Paper Roses to create the sentiment. I then used scraps of the DOI background to stamp and heat emboss a row of trees which I then fussy cut out and added them to my cards.

I liked how these two turned out and still have some of the background sitting on my desk, I also plan on making a couple in more masculine colours and maybe try the sentiment in portrait....

All is Bright

Hello again,

Two posts in one afternoon, whatever next....

I decided to have a tidy up while we had to move furniture around and back after having the windows replaced and discovered several NBUS stamps, dies and other bits and pieces lost in the mess I call my craft space. A friend is having a birthday soon and I like to make and send some of my cards as a gift, several design team makes will be amongst the set this year and these three Christmas cards using up some of my scrappy bits and pieces will added too. Now I can't find where I moved some items too.....

I found Impression Obsession Manger set still in the envelope they arrived in… un opened and unused, using white card scraps and double sided adhesive sheets I diecut the scene out and used a stitched square die to make a simple focal point on the card (and so I could use the larger sentiment stamp) I heat embossed the sentiment directly onto the card blank and measured and drew on lines 3mm from each edge to finish the card with a gold/silver pen to co-ordinate with the colours of the card.
I must admit that these cards were inspired by Shaz in Oz from Calligraphy Cards I don't seem to do CAS cards easily but these turned out super

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-

White 10.5x14.8cm card blanks

Impression Obsession Diesets DIE355-M

White and silver glitter card scraps

Distress oxide background (wilted violet +
Spray ink background
Silver and Gold super fine embossing powder

Clear embossing ink

Merry and Bright

Hello again,

Well I have actually found the time to make a Christmas card for Rudolph's Day this month, I printed several images from Digital Stamp Boutique, rather larger than normal, leaving me to fussy cut them out to make my cards, here is the first a little elephant from the set Christmas Edwin and Hetty. Coloured with Derwent pencils, with some fairy krystal glitter paint on her hat and the stocking top.

I will admit that the glitter X-Press-it tape his hiding a join, using a 15cm (6") paper pad does sometimes have its draw backs when making larger cards, I added a large sentiment from MFT Hand lettered Christmas in Versa Color Cardinal ink, which looks much brighter in person than it appears in the photo, heat embossed it with clear powder adding the Kaisercraft Christmas Tree and some star sequins and gems from my stash to finish.

What I used:-
White 12.6x17.8 cm (5x7") card blank
AC Card stock (not sure what colour exactly)
White cardstock
Faber-Castell and Derwent coloured pencils
MFT Gingham patterned paper
MFT Hand Lettered Christmas stamp
MFT Stitched inner/outer square die
Cardinal Versa Color ink
Christmas Edwin and Hetty Digi Stamp Digital Stamp Boutique
X-Press-it Glitter tape
Kaisercraft Decorative Dies Christmas Trees
Scrap of green paper
Fairy Krystal glitter paint
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, Diamond Glaze and Foam dots
