Classic Cars

Hello again,

Well this card is one I have had in mind for my Uncle after making this one with one of my new CCD dies, I had planned on using multiple of the cars on the original card, but they didn’t fit. I had a minor slip up when making this card and ended up adding a thin layer of PVA glue to each of the cars to add some sheen to them after a slightly too large a drop spilled on to the VW Beetle, leaving it looking obviously shinier than the other two.

Here is my card:-

What I used:
White 5x7” card blank 12.6 x 17.8cm
Kraft cardstock
Design papers from a $2 shop (Rosie’s Studio Transit Lounge)
Black, white, green, red and blue card from scrap box
Marianne Design VW Die
CCD Car Die 1
CCD Car Die 2
Ranger Liquid Enamel
Colorbox Charcoal ink pad
Black fine line pen
MFT pierced fishtail flags die
Typed sentiment
Foam tape, Double sided tape, PVA glue

Angelic Wishes

Hello again,

Well have you ever had one of those I must clean up moments, only to get part way through and get distracted? I have been trying to clear some of my mounding craft supplies and get them back to where they belong or in some cases put away for the first time. What has been my distraction? More lovely dies arriving every few days as I made an order for some Cheap China Dies- CCD (a term I first came across with Shaz in Oz of Calligraphy Cards, courtesy of RosA at Paperchase) and they have started arriving and needed a place to live, as they came I tried them through my machine and left feedback for each piece (required) which only added to the mess I was trying to get through.
I decided to keep my CCD separate to my other dies and have been making mini magnetic folders for some of the nesting sets using advertising magnets and plain Manila folders, the nesting sets are residing in an old VHS box and I’m wishing I hadn’t torn the plastic cover from the boxes so I could poke a list of what is in each box clearly down the spine or on the front of the box.
Here is a picture of the doily die which is behind my image:

I have made a Christmas card for this years stash using a Tiddly Inks digi image called ‘Angelic Wishes’. Still on my plan to use some of my vintage-y papers I coloured the image to suit.

A slice of Summer

Hello again,

Today I am sharing a card made for my niece’s birthday later this month, it is already on its way in a parcel full of Lego as requested and not 'girls' Lego either! She spent a lot of time playing with her Dad’s old Lego when she last visited us in NSW and took it all home with her, she told us she didn’t have any and she really really liked it!

Some other things she really really likes is pineapples and watermelons so much so that at her Mum’s she has all pineapple “stuff” and at her Dad’s when they decorated her new bedroom she got all watermelon “stuff like pillows, a mat and even a doona cover!”

That made things easy to decide she got Lego and her birthday card from my parents was to be a watermelon card, I made my card earlier this year using one of From the Heart Stamps Stamp of the Month images, Faith (From the Heart Stamps owner and designer) is very unwell at the moment and is having treatment for a brain tumour, Please keep Faith in your thoughts and Prayers.

This is probably the easiest card I've made in a long time, four circle dies, adhesive tape and sheets, a flag and a few punched hearts cut in two.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank
Dark green cardstock
Cabbage AC cardstock
Tomato AC cardstock
White cardstock
Black scrap card
Diamond Glaze on the Pips
Heart punch
Wooden ladybug (ladybird on the pack)
MFT Pierced Fishtail flags
MFT Penguins in Paradise stamp
Nesting circle dies Lifestyle crafts
Memento Tuxedo Black inkpad
Black fine line pen
Adhesives:- Diamond glaze and double-sided tape

What Can you Play.... I can play

Hello again,

Today I am sharing another card I have made for my Mum's friend from Family History group she attends, this card is for her grand-daughter who likes music, after further clarification I found out she is learning to play the trombone and after a search online I found a black and white outline of a trombone and printed it to fit a card (it was A4), I used some silver card scraps for the trombone and mounted it with foam tape over an embossed panel. I used my new MFT stamps and die set to create a banner and knowing that this card was being packed in luggage it was safe for me to add some chunky embellishments, so I grabbed a tiny peg and broke it in half to hold the ends of the banner in place.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank
Silver card stock
Pink Chevron paper Pebbles basics paper pad
Pink, silver, metallic silver, white and musical script card scraps
Trombone pattern downloaded from internet
Spell binders M-bossabilities (EL-011) Musical
MFT LJD Bitty Banners Stamp and Die Set
Blue Lagoon Colorbox ink pad
Darice blue and white twine
Kaisercraft blue rhinestones
Tiny blue peg broken in half
Musical note punch
Impression Obsession Greeting top edgers
Four tiny black brads

Adhesives:- Double sided tape, foam tape, diamond glaze and P.V.A. glue

Friends Birthday

Hello again,

I’m sure that many of you are asked to make cards for friends by relatives and today I am sharing a card I made for one of my Mum’s friends birthday, Mum and her friend met many years ago when my older brother started at preschool, think early eighties, both recognised the other but it was not until they got talking that they realised why… They had both worked pre-kids in the centre of Sydney, my Mum in a bank and her friend at a supermarket nearby, one serving the other back in the day when shoppers were handed the goods they asked for, not just picked them off the shelves themselves; they have remained friends since they met all those years ago.

Mum's request was for something feminine as her friend had four sons and her hubby, girlie is something she doesn't get often.

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
White 5” x 7” card blank
Bugaboo Fancy Rose Vase image
Derwent & Faber-Castell pencils
Pearlescent Black & white chevron paper

Dig it…

Hello again,

On the computer front my screen is functioning a little better, although still a little blurry, I've changed font sizes, it has a better functioning driver and at least my images no longer look like one of those crazy mirrors squashed down from the top and squeezed in from the sides....

I am joining in with this months stamp of the month challenge over at From the Heart Stamps, this is a progressive challenge and each month that you enter you will receive the following months stamp for free. This months image features a gorgeous little dog and is called Digging Dog. If you would like to join in the challenge you can purchase the image from the store here, if you spend over $10 on some of Faiths other stunning Digi images, you can enter this code: Digging Dog to receive the image free found here.

My card has taken a little longer to make than I planned as I haven't been able to find something I know I have in my stash, you can bet that sooner or later I will rediscover the tiny wooden lady bugs in the most unlikely place and probably remember why I put them there in the first place. One bonus has been tidying up and sorting some of my stash as I looked. Since I didn't find the little bugs I have altered my card as I went

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
Derwent and Faber-Castell pencils
White 14cm square card blank

Indian Elephant

Hello again,

Well I'm slowly catching up to the Bugaboo team and their challenge days, today is day four of their seven days of challenges to celebrate Bugaboo's 6th Birthday.

Today's challenge is a noughts and crosses board, I chose the line down the middle:- Twine, Easel Card and Ribbon. I hope that it does not matter that I have added extras too.

I found another challenge today which is Australian Based Incy Wincy Designs, looking forward to playing along with a new to me challenge, these ladies were also playing tic, tac, toe/noughts & crosses and I have chosen the top line. Embossing, Sentiment and Rhinstone/Pearl.

By the way photographing easel cards is slightly difficult, I'm never sure which picture will actually show the lower portion better, one straight over the top or an oblique shot. So I have two for this one. I hope you can see everything well enough.

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
White 14.8 x 10.5cm card blank

Cool birthday

Hello again,

Well, since I've skipped out on blogging for the last few weeks I've now got two posts on one day! Definately not the norm...

Okay so today is day two with the lovely ladies over at Bugaboo Stamps and they are celebrating their sixth birthday with some Jungle fever (or Zoo Fever).

I love watching the little fairy penguins when we are at the zoo, which is not very often, these little penguins live up and down the coast of Australia and now frequently run into trouble with dogs, cats and foxes hunting and killing them :'( A recent movie called Oddball tells a tale of some Victorian Penguins who were being killed by foxes at low-tide. It's a great family movie we watched it one night while my niece was visiting. The Little Fairy Penguins who call the zoo home are usually rescued and once rehabilitated cannot be return to the wild.

On to my card, I have chosen a very relaxed and cool Poppi Penguin inner tube  from Bugaboo to create a card for my neighbours sons birthday.

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank 10.5cm x 14.8cm
Blue cardstock
Sixxiz Embossing folder Tim Hotlz 'Retro Circles'
Digital Sentiment from Birds Cards
Green and Blue paper scraps (Ssshhh don't tell!!! they came off the spine of some 12" papers)
Black fine line pen
Adhesives:- Double sided tape & foam tape
Fussy Cutting Scissors (fiskars)

Gift Bag

Hello again,

Well this month there are quite a few of the Christmas challenges encouraging us to spread some glittery cheer around, does it count when I drop some glitter on the Physio’s carpet, after a two and a half hour train trip to get there? I think it must have come out of my shoe ;-))

I used three separate images from Tiddly Inks Digi store Winter Wryn, puppy love and a gift pile from Williow the Christmas Fairy and merged them together to create a Christmas scene, as this was planned to be for a gift bag the images are quite a bit larger than usual and I was able to add my sentiment into a text box directly under the images.

I have had some trouble getting the design papers to stick to the yellow glitter card and I may have to adjust the bag and add more brads to help hold the whole thing together, PVA just doesn't seem to hold well enough, maybe the second coat will have helped.

Here’s a close up of the gift bag:-

and the whole gift bag, I picked up 10 gift bags in various colours from Riot art while they were having a 50% off Sale, I also picked up some plain white and kraft bags at the same time!!

What I used:-
Tiddly Ink Digi stamps gifts, puppy love and Winter Wryn
Faber-Castell & Derwent Pencils
White card
Gift bag (Riot Art for those in Australia)
Ribbon from Stash
Yellow glittered cardstock
8mm coloured brads
Glittered large Self-adhesive rhinestones
Doodlebug Design bracket (generic Christmas pack)
Doodlebug Design ‘Santa Express’ paper pad
Lifestyle Nesting Rectangle Dies

Adhesives: - PVA glue & double-sided tape

Spring Cornucopia?

Hello again,

I had planned on entering this card in both the stamp of the month and the from the heart stamps sketch with a twist challenge but I unfortunately had a mishap with the original digi that I coloured and had to re-print and colour missing the end of the sketchy challenge, so having already made the card using Imke’s sketch I duly re-coloured and completed the card all be it a little late for one challenge.

This image is the stamp of the month challenge which you can buy here if you would like to enter the challenge and next month Faith will send you another challenge image free!

It feels slightly odd to be entering a autumnal inspired card in the middle of a spring heat wave, it's going to be 28c today way above the norm for here and as a bonus the pollen count is very high... (I hate hay fever)

Here is Imke’s sketch:-

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
From the Heart Stamps Cornucopia Stamp of the month-
Faith Skrdla both image and sentiment
White card blank
Brown card from generic card pack
White card
MFT Pierced circle die
MFT Pierced fishtail flags
Derwent and Faber-Castell coloured pencils
Pebbles Basics Paper pack design paper
Scrap of glitter card from my very messy table
Adhesives: double-sided tape
Stanley knife, craft matt, steel rule

Thank you for looking in…
Enjoy the rest of the week…
