Elves

Hello again,

Well I'm back again with another card for the current Christmas Chaos Challenge a week full of fun Challenges with the lovely team over at Bugaboo.

Today's challenge we had to pick a treat and make our card based on that treat, I chose 'Gingerbread Cookie Biscuit' (sorry we don't eat cookies in Australia, although some people are likely to toss them, but that's another story).

Gingerbread Cookies - Use 2 Stripes, 3 Brads or Bling, 4 Layers
Sugar Cookies with Sprinkles - Make your card a shape other than Square or Rectangle, 3 pieces of Bling & Ribbon
Homemade Holiday Chocolates - Use ONLY cardstock, no designer papers, Embossing & 2 Layers
Spiked Egg Nog - Use a Border Punch, Glitter & Polka Dots
Candy Canes – Stripes & BLING
Fruit Cake – Make it Funny & use ONLY scraps to create your card

My card recipe included 2 Stripes, 3 Brads or Bling and four layers.

I went a little overboard with my bling, never mind... my brother won't notice...

Here's my Card:-

What I used:-
Square card blank 14cm
white card
black paper from scraps box
black glitter card
doodlebug design paper 'north pole'
pebbles paper pack 'home for the holidays'
Make it Crafty digi image 'Floppy'
Derwent and Faber-Castell pencils
black fine-line pen
two red enamel brads
6 black self-adhesive bling
typed sentiment the original came from (whimsie doodles, I altered it)
Fiskars scallop border punch
Adhesives:- double-sided tape, glue stick, glue dots, PVA

Je suis Paris Joyeux Noel

Hello again...

I have been thinking about joining in a few of the month long card challenges before they close at the end of the month so this card is a combination of many...

Over at the Sweet Stampin' Christmas Challenge they would like to see stars

Beccy's Place is celebrating a whole month of Christmas card making with more inspiration each day, mine comes from day 15 Christmas trees

Christmas Cards all year Round would also like to see Christmas trees

I had several trips back and forth considering this month's Case-ing Christmas Challenge #31 to decide just what I would take from this month’s case card made by Donna, I decided to take my inspiration from Donna’s three trees and use a similar colour scheme, in light of what recently happened in Paris I  used the French flag for the colour layout and using a single word sentiment as a reminder of what the season is about...

Over at the Glory of Christmas Challenge the ladies would like to see a Clean and Simple card or the other option is anything goes, I think my card is fairly clean and simple...

Hazel and her team are always glad to see any Christmas make at each months Christmas Challenge Extra...

Across the ditch (well in Australia) the Creative Craft Cottage ladies would like us to make a Christmas Creation

Finally late last night the lovely ladies over at Jingle Belles challenged us to use up or Holiday Leftovers, I'm always up for using my large piles of scrap so...

Okay so I just remembered that the team over at Pile It On's Challenge is Any Holiday or Celebration, I think I've piled lots of challenges on to one card ;-)

Here’s my card:-

As I left quite a bit of space below the trees, I'm wishing that I had placed them a little lower... never mind

What I used:-

  • White 10.4cm x 14.8cm card blank
  • Paper scraps from two different paper pads (Bo Bunny ‘Elf Magic’ & Doodlebug Designs ‘Santa Express’)
  • Silver & black glitter card from scraps
  • Memory Box Die Sketchbook Peace
  • Tree die from Sizzix and Hero Arts pack Reindeer and Trees
  • Adhesives:- Double sided tape, Glue dots, Xyron Create-a-sticker

I would like to enter this card in:-

Beccy’s Place- Month of Holiday Card making (inspiration from day #15 Christmas trees)
The Glory of Christmas Challenge #72- Clean and Simple or Anything goes

Gingerbread House

Hello again,

I have finally got around to make this months Case-ing Christmas card, this time the Case card was made by Asha and features a lovely stamped church with trees sparkling and ready for Christmas, my inspiration is the church building which I turned into a cute Gingerbread house.

Okay so for this card I had a plan, my plan includes sending a pre-fab locally made gingerbread house kit to my 10 year old niece, my brother and his wife, to build, decorate and eat this Christmas, although if my brother gets hold of it first he may just eat it how it comes ;-) The local business is so popular they have even converted an old church into a fabulous café complete with a playground decked out as you guessed it a gingerbread house.

I have been looking around online for a digital stamp with a gingerbread house featured on it for this card and came across this cute and hilarious digi from Doodle Pantry with the Gingerbread House being devoured by a family of sugar hungry ants, this digi is simply up my alley :-)

Here’s my Card:-

What I used:-
White Card blank
Pink cardstock
Gingerbread house Ants + Sentiment Doodle Pantry
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
Multi coloured bling strips
Computer designed sentiment
Design Paper My Mind’s Eye- Happy Day
Fairy Krystal glitter paint (on icing and many of the Lollies, just not showing up in the photo)
MFT pierced fishtail flags die
Lawn Fawn Stitched Labels die
Lifestyle crafts nesting Rectangle and Circle dies
Adhesives Foam tape, double-sided tape
Scoring board and bone folder

Reindeer Games

Hello again…

I made this card with inspiration from a number of the different Christmas card Challenges out there just now, over at ABC Christmas Challenge R is for, Case-ing Christmas where Mynn made a lovely Christmas scene featuring a snowman and over at Jingle Belles the lovely ladies have teamed up with another blog called Shopping our Stash and they would like us to use some of our long held crafty items.

So here it goes my blue background paper is from a DCWV paper pack which was one of my first ever Christmas paper packs, it came from Kmart many moons ago I managed to find an image (below) and unsurprisingly it has been discontinued, I teamed this with my first ever doodlebug design paper pack called ‘north pole’ (below) is no where near as neon looking in real life, my bling came from a $2 shop and it has been over five years since the store left town and saving it up for last is…

The stamp set- (made in 2011)

I first saw this stamp and die set when it was featured on the cover of a British Isles Card making magazine and I really really really had to have it… but sometimes these things can be hard to find here in Australia so I waited for nearly two years, bought my Cuttlebug and eventually found the set on-line in the far north of New South Wales. Needless to say it arrived soon after ;-) I've never really been great at stamping and so it lay around the craft/computer table and this week I decided it was time for it to see ink for the first time ever… I will confess that I have occasionally used the tree dies…

Here’s my card:-

Edited:- new photo taken in daylight

and with some of the scraps I made another tag

What I used:-

White 14cm square card blank
Impression Obsession dies top edges set 3 Christmas Sentiments
Kraft card from Officeworks
Brown, green, lime and red Colorbox inkpads
White card from my scraps
Lime Kindyglitz glitter paint
Fiskars Corner rounder
Bling from Stash
Merry Christmas stamp on tag from stash
Stanley knife, craft matt, pencil, scissors, black fine-liner pen
Adhesives- Double-sided tape, foam tape and P.V.A. glue
Kraft tag and twine

Blue Christmas

Hello again…

Case-ing Christmas has gone monthly and this month it was Steph’s turn to create a card to inspire us, you can find Steph’s Card here. There is a lot to be inspired by, I love all the papers together; I took my inspiration from the ribbon, lace and twine down the side of the card. I have used a digi stamp from bugaboo and coloured it completely non-traditional.

On one of my recent trips down to the physio in the city I stopped in at Lincraft to see what extras bits and pieces I could get to add to my cards and came away with a variety of sheer ribbons and lace. I have used pale blue ribbon and added some die cut stars and avoided the snow all bar the image on the paper

Here’s my card:-

I had been saving this paper, although a generic bought from Kmart many years ago it was still a favourite, due to the positioning of my image I have covered up the tree the paper has on it which was also a blue and green combo. I now have an excuse to buy more supplies :-) I simply have to have some non traditional coloured papers! Maybe I will be well enough in November for the more local Christmas craft fair, I haven't been for several years.

The stopper on the easel card was created using a round digi from Scrap-a-licious Times (bottom one) and one I created in word placed on top.

What I used:-
14.9cm x 10.5cm white card blank
White card
Generic blue card and generic Christmas patterned paper
White glittered card stock
Faber-castell and Derwent Pencils
Baby blue Liquid Pearls
Digital Stamp BUGABOO
Mpress circle dies
Top sentiment circle Word
Lower sentiment from Scrap-a-licious Times
MFT Stitched Rectangle dies
Memory box Die Cosmic Star set
Adhesives- P.V.A. Glue, Double-sided tape, glue dots, foam tape
Scoring board

Case-ing Ourselves

Hello again,

Well this fortnight over at Case-ing Christmas challenge they have been celebrating Christmas in July with a fabulous blog hop featuring some gorgeous cards made with stamps in both real and digital form from a very kind group of sponsors.

The challenge this time is to case ourselves using a card we have made for another occasion, not Christmas, which I have a limited supply. I eventually decided on this card which was made for a lovely friend whom we met whilst doing our family history, her other hobby is quilt making hence the stitchy make. I have stuck with the layout of the card altering use of washi tape, egg braid and buttons to two ribbons (I rescued the sparkly red one from a present last year) and as none of the buttons in my stash are quite so small I switched them for some star sequins. I recreated the style of the sentiment on my computer, the original Happy Birthday one came from Scrap-al-icious-times. The bingo card is from Sweetly scrapped art.

Several blog challenges are also celebrating Christmas in July this week and today's Bugaboo Stamp challenge is a recipe challenge:

Three embellishments: Star sequins
Two Designer papers: Musical Script, Striped paper, also third which can barely be seen behind the image
Ribbon: two ribbons- red and green

Here’s my Christmas version of my Case card

What I used:-
White card blank 12.7cm x 17.8cm (5”x7”)
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
Digital sentiment created on Word
Tiddly Inks Paper pack from Australian Simply Card magazine 2013
Musical note paper from Papercraft Inspirations magazine
Ribbons from stash
Star Sequins from stash
Kraft card scrap
White card
Paper scraps to create poinsettias
MFT-Stitched Circle die

Angels we have heard on high...

Hello again...

Well, what do you do when the local electricity company decides to replace the power poles in your area and there is no power for a day in winter? ... well I got some bits and pieces printed out and ready, then lit the fireplace and spent a day warm beside the fire. I now have a bag full of sentiments which I die cut, a coloured page or two of images and three more cards to add to the stash of Christmas cards I have already made this year... and guess what they're doing it again in a fortnight...

Okay so I am joining in with the ladies at Case-ing Christmas again and this week Rocky made a fabulous card featuring a lovely die cut Snowman, cool blue papers, musical script, lovely ribbon and stitching which you can see here at the current challenge

I have gone with featuring a die cut image and have used a gorgeous angel die from Marianne Creatables which you can make a 3D paper angel that will stand on its own. I have trimmed her down to fit my card and gone traditional with the colour palette.

Run, Run as fast as you can...

Hello again...

Well as promised I have again made a card for this weeks Case-ing Christmas Challenge, we are already up to week 22 and  I plan on continuing for the whole year...

This week it was Mynn who provided the initial card for inspiration and was joined by a combined group of ladies from both teams. You can see Mynn's gorgeous card here at Case-ing Christmas

I was inspired by the gingerbread man on Mynn's card and used an old template from the Papercraft Inspirations Magazine team, which was an bonus extra on their website several years ago. I increased the gingerbread man in size before hand cutting him out.

I have made my card a square one this week to play along with the final Completely Christmas Challenge...

I also decided to play with my Sew Easy tool for the first time, so go easy on the wonky stitching ;-)

Here's my Card:-

What I used:-
White 14cm Card blank
Template from Papercraft Inspirations
Scrap of kraft card
Scrap of green card
White Gel ink pen
Bella! Droplets
Bow from my stash
Sequins from Lawn Fawn
MFT Pierced Fishtail
Sentiment from TLC Creations
Sew Easy tool/floss
Polka Doodles Patterned paper
Brown Card
Brown Glitter paper

Adhesives- plenty of Double-sided tape and P.V.A. glue
