Birdbrain's Tropical Christmas

Hello again,

In an effort to get at least two Christmas cards made this month, I have been busy today finishing off James earlier and making another card this afternoon. I have used two images from From the Heart Stamps called Jingle Bell Birdbrain and Tropical Christmas and merged them into one, I have tried fussy cutting part of the image and die cutting the remainder, I need more practise having lopped off a little too much.

I have used this weeks sketch from the ladies over at Paper Play Sketches and I’ve been a little sneaky, the green polka dot paper is cut in half to make it fit the card since the middle has another design…
Here is my card:-

White 5x7” card blank

Carta Bella Christmas time 6” pad

Echo Park Dots and Stripes Christmas 6” pad

Sprinkled sugar stickles

Scrap green card for sentiment

James' Christmas

Hello again,

I’ve been concentrating on my family history of late and trying to ignore my PC issues, hoping my uncle will come up with the goods on how to fix it, blogger is still playing up I can only scroll through part of the list of blogs I follow, it is also adding extra spaces that are not there to each post or squeezing everything up super close to each other.

I thought I’d better get my skates on and make a couple of cards for Christmas before the end of the shortest month, I have been colouring some mixed image for upcoming birthdays and Christmas with the intent still to be making a few of the latter each month. I bought my first two digi stamps from LOTV including this super cute James Big Star with the plan of using some of my vintage-y papers for the cards.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 5” x 7” card blank
Kaisercraft Yuletide papers
White cardstock for printing
Colorbox cat’s eye inkpad ‘Olive pastel’
Sanding tool, scissors and a good scrunching to age the papers
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
Wink of Stellar pen (supposedly clear but I think white would be a better description)
Fine line black pen to trace over lines covered by above
Marianne Design Star Punch die
Couture Creations nesting rectangle die
Couture Creations nesting scalloped rectangle die
Self-adhesive pearls
Adhesive:- Double-sided tape

Hedgehogs

Hello again,

As I mentioned before I printed off an few images onto one sheet for upcoming birthdays, it was our neighbours birthday over the weekend and her and her son headed down the coast for a couple of days giving me some extra time to finish off her card  so rather than being a fairly simple one I went all out and made some rolled roses to embellish her card… 😊 and just as they were ready to leave we arrived home from the shops and her teenage son brought me in a tray of card board scraps quite possibly from their love of heading out to garage sales, one of the scraps worked perfectly with the colour scheme of the semi completed card and I couldn’t help myself I used it for the roses, so some of what she gave me is heading back into her home.
If I didn’t want the scrap card stock she said to dump it into her recycling bin (What!!!) as even if I can’t use it I try to pass it along to someone who will, I have shared it out some for me in colours I need or use lots of,  some has made its way to one of the friendly bank tellers, who will also pass along any she’s not interested in and the remainder will be headed to a card making lady who after retiring returned to the nursing home to teach card-making to the residents, they have loved the other bits and pieces I have passed along and will undoubtedly get some enjoyment from this lot. (box is a bit over 30cm square)

Soccer Fan

Hello again,

I had a brief phone call requesting a quick card for Saturday, for an 8 year old boy who likes soccer and plays the violin, I knew I had a Polkadoodles soccer digi stamp so headed straight for it, then decided that while I was at it I would save time and print out a few extra images for upcoming birthdays all on an A4 sheet and sat as the weather finally started to cool and coloured them in.

Not knowing if the young lad has a team he follows I decided to colour the uniform in the colours of the nearest Soccer (aka Football) team.

Anyone got a huge fan? I want to send you some of our Aussie Heat, so long as you share some of your cooler weather.  Below are the forecast and current data from the top of our local council building which is home to an Automatic Weather Station

Below is the forecast for tomorrow a drop of 15C and a welcome relief (but it won't last long another heatwave offering us 35C again will be back before the end of the week) Roll on Autumn!!!!

Cricket

Hello again,

Since I’ve been busy with my family tree of late I haven’t had time to post my brothers birthday card. He is currently into playing cricket with his local club, I used this image from Just Inklined for my neighbours son last year too.

I added a few 'cherries' to the cricket bat when growing up my brother and his friends liked to play mini cricket inside the house when it was too wet or cold to be outside with one of those little high bounce rubber balls, which they liberally coated in red paint pen, for the specific purpose of making 'cherries' on the tiny bats, the stairwell has still got red paint marks down it as they hit a six and the ball bounced from side to side...

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank 12.7 x 17.8 (5x7”)
White card (printing leftovers for fence)
Just Inklined Cricketer Digi Stamp
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
Dark and light grey card stock
Red cardstock
MFT Woodgrain fence die
Spellbinders Seth Apter Maze Embossing folder
Lili of the Valley Happy Circular Sentiment stamps
Nesting dies circle dies
Nesting rectangle dies

I decided to fussy cut the cricketers knee pad making it protrude from the frame, I probably should have only cut one part out and left the red frame intact, never mind my brother won’t have noticed…
