Town of Bethlehem

 Hello again,

I have another Christmas card today I decided to cut a side fold card front in half, adding a metallic blue background to the inside of the card and using MFT Little Town of Bethlehem dies to create my card, adding layers of corrugated card to pop layers up and adding a Memory Box Star of Wonder on an acetate strip. The star is made up of four layers two are facing the front and two are on the back.

I was not sure that I would be able to heat emboss the sentiment on the metallic paper, one because I have never tried to emboss on metallic paper, I did a test on some scrap first and second due to the current heatwave, I am most looking forward to the cool change predicted over the weekend...

Here is my card: -

What I used: -
White 12.4x17.4cm card blank
MFT Little town of Bethlehem dies
Black, metallic copper and leather grained card
Gold paper
Acetate scrap
Clear embossing ink
Memory Box Sentiment 'typewriter holiday sentiments'
Gold embossing powder
Hand star punch
Memory Box 'Star of Wonder' die

Couple of Cards

 Hello again,

I'm enjoying a couple of much cooler days after a week long heat wave 33C+, my poor budgies are all fluffed up trying to keep warm (14C) and have started moulting... while running back-up on my computer this morning I decided to make another Christmas card for my stash. This one is number 8 for the year...

This card is a total scrap/snippet job I stamped the dog onto a snippet of white card stock and heat embossed in black powder before scribbling with watercolour pencils on another scrap of card and painting them onto the image. I die cut the sentiment from a scrap of silver paper and on the photo the Christmas looks a little lost against the background, not so bad IRL. The holly and berries were cut from some more scraps from Doodlebug papers.. the green leaves are from a different paper pad there are flowers on the back....

MFT Deck the Howls stamp set
Doodlebug North Pole/Santa Express Papers
Scrap silver paper with Adhesive sheet on back
Spellbinders 'Christmas' sentiment die
MFT 'Wishes' sentiment die
MFT Stitched inner/outer rounded rectangle die
Cottage Cutz Holly and berries die
Wink of Stella on ornaments

I have also made one birthday card using my distress oxide inks smooshing them on my gelli plate, spritzing with water, heat drying before moving on to the next colour. I then using the same colours to paint the heat embossed butterfly adding a tiny drop of water so the colours are brighter inside the stamped image.

edit... not sure how but forgot to add the watermark over my card...

Katzelkraft Daisy Butterfly
Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Fossilised Amber
Clear embossing ink
Whispers Opaque and black Embossing powder
Pink, white, silver card
MFT Essential Sentiments stamp
MFT Pierced fishtail flag die
Waffleflower C7 layered stitched dies

Christmas Leftovers

 Hello again,

Summer is in full force here in NSW again, I've finally had to swap pants for shorts, we have had temperatures down as low as 9C here up until now (31C), less summer more winter. Glad that there are only 4 fires currently burning in NSW, not like this time last year with the number of Bushfires and how close they were to our home.

I've been trying to use up the ends of a 6" paper pad currently sitting on my desk, it has just one sheet that is whole, the rest are bits and pieces of varying sizes, I have used up some of the strips to cover two pieces of pre-cut card to fit a C7 card blanks, I did the same with some bits from a second Christmas paper pad that also had many bits where I'd die cut shapes from leaving narrow pieces to make two more Christmas cards for my stash for 2021....

LPoCF December Polkadoodles

Hi again,

Well the fires in NSW continue to burn, leaving the city choking with smoke- when I have had to be in the city I have had my asthma medication prior to leaving home and again before departing the train. The nearest fire to me is expected to burn for another month or more, but those of us who have lived in the area the longest know that it needs the burn off to protect us from more dangerous fires in the future. The biggest fire has grown by over 200,000 hectares in the last week and currently sits at 369,279 hectares, if you add all the smaller fires that have joined on to the main fire front the area burnt totals 575,782 hectares...

Enough about fires, onto my post. Today brings us to the last challenge of this year with my lovely team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Polkadoodles who are offering a £6.75 voucher for use in their store to the lucky winner.

Prize £6.75 voucher

I have made two cards using the image Cute Penguins from our Sponsor Polkadoodles I have flipped one image to make the penguins face each other and used a large sentiment from MFT Hand Lettered Christmas above them as they appear to be looking upwards.

Derwent Watercolour and regular pencils

CBD Anything goes August

Hello again,

I hope those in the North are enjoying their summer time, we have been having a run of cold, wet, foggy winter days here in my part of Aus. good weather to stay inside crafting. Today brings us to a new month long Anything goes challenge with my lovely team mates at Crafting By Designs, while my team mates enjoy a summer break this is the only challenge for the month. There are two sponsors this month offering two lucky winners a prize from their stores.

Prize  $6 voucher to store

Prize $15 Gift Certificate to store

I have used one of my favourite images from Di's Digi Stamp store Pots of Hedgehog Love, this was coloured earlier this year and I had pre die-cut it out then tucked it under my craft matt to keep it flat. I have used paper from Shimelle 'Star Shine' paper pad which I cut to fit the card after die-cutting the flower shape from the middle of the plain cardstock backing, okay so it wasn't quite even and I had to change plans and ended up with the two narrow strips top and bottom rather than just one at the bottom. I know, measure twice cut once.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 17.4x12.4 top fold card blank
Di's Digi Stamp Pots of Hedgehog Love
DCWV Neutrals cardstock
Flower die cut
MFT pierced circle die
Shimelle 'Star Shine' paper pad
MFT sentiment die cut
Clearly Besotted Sentiment stamp
Flower lace
Colorbox ink pad 'Midnight'
Tiny blue bling
Adhesives:- Double sided tape and Diamond glaze

Well we are up to ‘T’ today with the current month long challenge over at Beccy’s Place, and I have gone with ‘T’ is for Trio of Trees, I made two cards earlier this year and decided that I liked that they had been relatively quick and simple makes and wanted to repeat them in slightly more masculine colours. Rose Birthday

Hello again,

Seems like ages since I was last out here on my blog, I have had a much easier recovery post repeat surgery in mid August, so hopefully I get good news when I got back to the specialist this week... One of our family history friends is celebrating her birthday today and we gave her this card along with a new azalea plant which we happily found out will replace one that recently died in her garden.

I messed around with some scraps of card deciding on just which colour to make the rose, once I had settled on Raspberry versa color, I inked the stamp up carefully cleaning off the ink from the leaves and stem. Stamping first the flower portion before cleaning and reinking the leaves and stem in Olive versa color and stamping. I used MFT pierced fish tail flag die to cut the rose out then dug around in my large scrap file for the gold mirri card, found some deep pink cardstock and a wide striped paper from my stash.

I managed to smudge the ink on the rose, thankfully it blends in though. Apologies for the photo quality this one is the best of a bad bunch...

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 5x7" card blank (12.6x17.8cm)
Heidi Swapp Marquee love paper
Darkroom Door Rose stamp (Full Bloom Vol 1)
Rasperry and Olive Versa Color ink pads
Gold mirri, black, white and deep pink cardstock from scrap files

Winnie Balloon Days- Paper Piecing

Hello again,

Today brings us to a new Challenge for Crafting by Designs, we would love you to join in our Paper Piecing challenge which I am playing host, we have one lovely sponsor this week Polkadoodles  will be giving the lucky winner a voucher for three digi stamps from their store.
Prize voucher for 3 digi images from their shop

I have used one of our sponsors super cute digi stamps Polkadoodles Winnie Balloon Days to make my card. I printed the image off twice in draft to decide which size I wanted to use and would work best for my card before printing it onto cardstock to colour and then using the draft copy to tape my patterned papers to that I intended on paper piecing and printing it off again. I created a little scene for Winnie using more pieces of scrap papers from my stash who will know that some of the pieces came from my Christmas paper scrap bag??? Red and green spotty papers are easily used at different times of the year, I also busted through some white scraps to make the fence, clouds and punched flowers. Two clouds and the grassy edges in front of the fence are popped up on foam tape to add some dimension, I added the flowers to the ground after deciding it needed something a little extra to finish the card off.

This challenge is open until June 19th, and you can add your project by using the Linky tool on the Challenge blog here. Please be sure to link your project back to us.

Please drop by my team mates and leave them a comment on their cards too.

Mother's Day

Hello again,

I’m back to share the card I made for my Mum for Mother’s Day, I have gone back to a plain fold card as last year I made a fancy ‘Joy Fold’ card which although pretty, collapsed and couldn’t support its self 😞

I have used a pretty hydrangea stamp which arrived with my magazine subscription to Australian Simply cards, Mum loves the blue/mauve hydrangea flowers and until a large storm butchered and killed our bushes, were grown in the back yard, due to our soil type the flowers were always pink and to get the blue flowers she wanted most required buying ‘blueing tonic’.

This has been the first time I have used my Prismacolor pencils, they  were a Christmas Present from my brother and his craft loving wife two Christmases ago... I will admit being a little scared of them...

After heat embossing, colouring and die cutting the main panel, I decided it was a little flimsy and I die cut an extra piece of stiff card board from a cereal box to help stiffen and straighten it out. One of my papers is very old and treasured; you know the ones you like to collect and look at from time to time but rarely bring yourself to use any… I bought a mixed paper pack from Doodlebug designs when I first bought my Cuttlebug…. Probably 10 years ago or so…

I think this must be a first for me, I’m usually madly making my Mother’s Day card the day before, and this must be a record…. Now just need to find a present…

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White 5x7” 12.6x17.8cm card blank
The Hydrangea set (ASC)
Purple card stock
Prismacolor Water-color pencils (H20 and fine brush)
