LPoCF #192 Sheepski Designs Coffee and Cake

 Hello again,

Well, we have now had the wettest year on record in New South Wales, the last time it was this wet was the year my Mum was born... our current local rainfall for this year is 2419.3mm or about 95.2inches, we are currently sitting just under twice the average rainfall for area.

This fortnight brings us to another all new Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, we are sponsored by SheepSki Designs and the Design Team chose four different images to work with. I chose one called Coffee and Cake and whilst I coloured and paper pieced the combined image I managed to smudge my finger through glue and decided that I would use the cake which came as a stand-alone image.

Our weather is finally starting to warm up here in Australia, we have had snow predicted the last few days, but it has not arrived. Just cold and damp, we have now begun to see plants die from too much water, 20inches in 10 days was just too much.

This fortnight at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends we are being sponsored by Streamside Studios and they sell both digital and clear stamps. Each member of the design team was able to choose one digi set. I have used a set called Designer Birthday Cake to make a paper pieced cake.

LPoCF #186 The Paper Shelter

 Hello all,

Well we have had over 20inches of rain in the last 13 days the greatest amount in one day was 8inches and the bulk fell over just five days, we are starting to dry out again, the people who live on the plains area around Sydney are cleaning up after their 4th flood in 2years, some only just having replaced all their plasterboard walls and timber floors.... the train line has been cut again by another landslide which they currently estimate taking minimum six weeks to repair, lets hope the high winds don't cause any more trouble with trees falling...

This week brings us to an all new Anything goes challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by The Paper Shelter who kindly gave the Design Team one image to work with we are using the super cute Ellie Digital Stamp

The second card is C7 size or (12.6x17.8cm) I added the large sentiment from Inkylicious (I won from Snippets Playground) using Versa color Cyan ink cube and some clear embossing powder and another striped snippet, finishing this one off with three pre-made flowers which have a green gem in the centre, one flower is also glittered.

Apologies I've not been around much, my 12yo pc appears to be on the last legs, and has started randomly shutting down, usually when I'm in the middle of something. I changed the 'watch/button battery' inside the tower and all appears well at the minute.

Japanese Inspired

 Hello again

Highly unusual for me to post twice in two days! I have a friend who has a Japanese daughter-in-law and asks me to create a card especially for her each year. I have been looking online and discovered a handmade card using Japanese papers which have been padded. I have gone fairly basic with my card and added an embossed background which is also seen in the patterned paper. A further search suggests this technique is called Japanese Padded Paper Quilting here is a link to another blogger Christine where I read about the technique.

Inside each square is a smaller square of cardstock which I attached a very thin layer of quilt batting, about 1/3 the usual thickness of the batting. I then wrapped the patterned paper around and stuck the paper edges onto the back. A little like covering school books.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White 10.5x14.8cm card blank
Embossing folder
Gold paper
white cardstock
Couture Creations 'Asian Wave' Embossing folder
Japanese paper squares
Stitched square dies
thin layer of quilt batting
Mystery Sentiment stamp
Clear embossing ink
Gold embossing powder

We have had another wet week here in eastern Australia, the news said the rain band is 4000km long and hits all of the eastern states, the major dam that supplies Sydney with drinking water has hit 100% capacity and has opened the spillway, it was only in March that the area down stream was flooded in another release.

Here is one more Christmas card:-

Our Christmas cards for overseas had to be posted last week for guaranteed delivery and due to postage delays and only alternate day delivery the Aussie cards will be sent this week, all written and ready to go!

LPoCF #170 All Dressed Up

 Hello again,

Well on the local weather front we have had another drenching and gone from warm spring weather back to freezing cold winter weather, current outside temperature is 6.6C but with wind chill included feels like -2.6C. We are seeing less cases of the virus, although follow up appointments for Mum after her stroke have been swapped from in person to over the phone due to local cases within the hospital.

Today brings us to another all new Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by All Dressed Up who kindly gave the design team two images to work with. I have used Oriental Girl and created a fancy card which will go to a family friend as a birthday card.

Hexagon Mad

 Hello again,

We are currently having a warm winters day and the washing is getting a good blow through, before an expected cool change later this week. I have been busy during our current lockdown using up a couple of ancient paper pads, one a Christmas pad from Doodlebug Designs called 'North Pole' which has maybe a whole 6" square left to use up, if you join all the little bits together and it is definitely not going back in the box for use again next year. I have used a magazine subscription stamp set 'Pretty Patchwork' to make several cards one is a birthday card the others Christmas.

Here are my cards:-

This birthday card is on the way to a quilt making friend, she is currently under her first lockdown after a person infected with covid-19 went into her regional area, so hopefully this brings a smile for her birthday over the weekend....

As you can see I stamped and cut out many hexagons and made them into tree shapes on the card fronts adding a bow (store bought) to the top of the tree and the sentiment at the bottom, I was a little high on the first one the next two worked out well...

My last card features a MFT stamp called Pure Innocents Elf Girl along with some larger hexagons

4x 12.6x17.8cm card blank
1x 10.5x14.8cm card blank

Autumn is well and truly here in my part of Australia, we are picking Granny Smith apples from the tree and cooking them with rhubarb for desserts and the possums have been eating the leaf tips from same tree. This morning we had our first frost and I think my calendula plants are starting to die back already, time for something else to grow in the old wheelbarrow...

Today brings us to our new Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, our sponsor this fortnight is All Dressed Up who kindly gave us a choice of two images to work with, I have made a card in Autumnal colours with the image called All Dressed Up Spring has Sprung.

LPoCF #154 Bountiful Blooms

 Hello again,

Today brings us to another Anything goes Challenge with my Team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Rachel Vass Designs- Etsy Shop, I chose to use a digi that came sized for a slimline card called 'Bountiful Blooms', right now I have left it sentiment free, I can add one at a later date.

This week may see us have nearly 1m or 3feet of rainfall where I live, our laundry is flooded although the rain has just been constant rather than extremely heavy downpours like last year when the train line washed away the next town up the mountain. The main dam for Sydney has gone from below 40% full last year to now overflowing, a new bridge in a known flood area was built with the intention that it would never be under flood, has had all traffic stopped from using it as the water is lapping just below the road level and is expected to go under water in the next few hours...

Couple of Cards

 Hello again,

I'm enjoying a couple of much cooler days after a week long heat wave 33C+, my poor budgies are all fluffed up trying to keep warm (14C) and have started moulting... while running back-up on my computer this morning I decided to make another Christmas card for my stash. This one is number 8 for the year...

This card is a total scrap/snippet job I stamped the dog onto a snippet of white card stock and heat embossed in black powder before scribbling with watercolour pencils on another scrap of card and painting them onto the image. I die cut the sentiment from a scrap of silver paper and on the photo the Christmas looks a little lost against the background, not so bad IRL. The holly and berries were cut from some more scraps from Doodlebug papers.. the green leaves are from a different paper pad there are flowers on the back....

MFT Deck the Howls stamp set
Doodlebug North Pole/Santa Express Papers
Scrap silver paper with Adhesive sheet on back
Spellbinders 'Christmas' sentiment die
MFT 'Wishes' sentiment die
MFT Stitched inner/outer rounded rectangle die
Cottage Cutz Holly and berries die
Wink of Stella on ornaments

I would like to enter this card in:

I have also made one birthday card using my distress oxide inks smooshing them on my gelli plate, spritzing with water, heat drying before moving on to the next colour. I then using the same colours to paint the heat embossed butterfly adding a tiny drop of water so the colours are brighter inside the stamped image.

edit... not sure how but forgot to add the watermark over my card...

Katzelkraft Daisy Butterfly
Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Fossilised Amber
Clear embossing ink
Whispers Opaque and black Embossing powder
Pink, white, silver card
MFT Essential Sentiments stamp
MFT Pierced fishtail flag die
Waffleflower C7 layered stitched dies
