Second 5th Birthday

Hello again,

Well, here's a surprise, not only is my Design Team celebrating 5 years of challenges but a little dig into my own blog history and I am also celebrating 5 years of blogging today. Now I had grand plans of a little giveaway however the post bag containing the gifts has gone AWOL with the mess made when the roof leaked, I will have a little dig around and try and get something organised for my regular visitors later on. I think from memory there is enough for a couple of prizes, some are Aussie based companies others are international companies...

The very first card I posted was a Christmas card as that was one of the main reasons I began blogging, I was making my own cards and wanted to be a part of something bigger than just sitting here creating on my own... so here is the first card I posted (must have had the flash on the camera and look no watermark...) and a new one I created this morning using up scraps of Kaisercraft Design papers left on my table...

First card:-

Today's card:-

I have stamped and embossed the trio of trees onto both the plain white cardstock and the scrap papers, I then coloured the stars in with the clear embossing pen and added more embossing powder to the stars

What I used:-
17.8x12.6cm card blank
Kaisercraft Christmas papers (various scraps)
Gold and white scrap cardstock
We Are Memory Keepers Twist trimmer (deckled edge blade-busted out of the package today)
Paper Roses Merry Christmas text
Stamp-It Australia Tree-O  rubber stamp
Clear embossing ink and pen
Stampendous Metallic Gold embossing powder
CCD Stitched square die
White glitter enamel dots
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, Xyron sticker maker

I would like to enter this card in:-
Pixie's Snippet's Playground- Anything goes with snippets
Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge- Anything goes or Trim the tree
ABC Christmas Challenge A is for Anything Goes- B is for Bingo
-Bingo Patterned Paper, Christmas sentiment and Embossing

For updates on the NSW fires:- Website Fires Near Me

Map 1- the whole of NSW there are currently 120 incidents recorded on the map
Map 2- Showing area surrounding Sydney- note no fires in the Sydney Basin
Map 3- Closer to home- red arrow is pointing at area being back burned near me-
the length of the back burn/containment line will reach 50km once complete and connected to each other, areas that cannot be burnt will either have heavy earth moving equipment bulldoze the bushland or have people working on hand tools to clear the fuel load.
In the middle of the burnt area you can see Lake Burragorang- also known as Warragamba Dam- Sydney's water catchment and drinking water supply
Katoomba next to the red arrow is approximately 100km (63miles) from Sydney

On a happier note all the fires in my area are now listed as Under Control, whilst they may still be burning they are not causing any problems for the Firefighters, even the fire called Gosper's Mountain which started on 26 Oct 2019 via a lightening strike and has burnt over 512,000 hectares is under control. May the forecast rains come and douse the last of the fires and begin the regeneration of our bushland...

Many thanks for looking in... (and making it this far through the post)
Have a wonderful week...
Megan

P.S. Many thanks to all my lovely blogging friends and visitors who have taken the time to stop by and leave me any comments over the last 5 years, may my card making continue for many more years.

T is for Trio of Trees

Hello again,

Well we are up to ‘T’ today with the current month long challenge over at Beccy’s Place, and I have gone with ‘T’ is for Trio of Trees, I made two cards earlier this year and decided that I liked that they had been relatively quick and simple makes and wanted to repeat them in slightly more masculine colours. I made a Distress Oxide ink background using Broken China, Faded Jeans and Peacock Feathers, heat embossed my Trio of Trees stamp by Stamp-It Australia in Silver and used my Paper Roses Merry die to repeat the earlier two cards, though this one in portrait.

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-
White 12.6x17.8cm (5x7”) card blanks
Blue paper from stash
White and navy cardstock

MFT Stitched inner and outer oval die
Hero Arts Stamp ‘n’ cut Merry set
Paper Roses Merry peek-a-boo die
CCD swirl die

Get Ready for Christmas October

Hello again,

Today brings us to a new challenge over at Crafting By Designs and this week it is our ever popular Get ready for Christmas edition for October, not long to go now until it is time to get all those cards out in time for the big day. I hope that you will join us and add a card or two to your stash.

I have used some of my stamps from home to create two cards for my stash, I have used Distress Oxide inks in Peacock Feathers, picked raspberry, seedless preserves and wilted violet many splashes and squirts of water to create a A4 sheet of background paper and used a die I bought last October from Paper Roses to create the sentiment. I then used scraps of the DOI background to stamp and heat emboss a row of trees which I then fussy cut out and added them to my cards.

I liked how these two turned out and still have some of the background sitting on my desk, I also plan on making a couple in more masculine colours and maybe try the sentiment in portrait....

Calendar 2019

Hello again,

This will be my second attempt at posting this as blogger decided to be unfriendly the other day and it froze on me, so here goes again....

After making several friends calendars as small gifts one year for Christmas, it has become somewhat of a tradition, last year I made owl calendars in various colours ensuring they fit inside and A5 envelope, I came across a Split Coast Stampers calendar tutorial and saved it to use this year and having already purchased the tiny calendars followed the directions to make them free standing using C7 card blanks. Two are upright tent fold cards and the other two horizontal and as a bonus they will still fit in the regular envelopes for posting...

I have used the same daisy stamp from Stamp-It Australia heat embossing in silver and black, colouring and painting in the colours with Prismacolor watercolour pencils in purples, pinks, yellow and red. When I added the calendar tabs to the two landscape cards both tore the calendar off at December which was a pain quickly rectified by stapling the rest back on.

Here are the calendars:- Apologies, I couldn't get them to fit in two by two so one pic of each with an extra showing the prop inside the card.

What I used:-
White C7 card blanks (vertical card 12.4x17.4cm) horizontal (12.6x17.8cm)
Pink, mauve, yellow and white card stock (scrap box)
Stamp It Australia Daisy Bunch stamp
Stamp tool
Martha Stewart scoring board
CCD apron lace die
Memory Box Pippi Butterfly die
MFT Stitched inner and outer oval die
Crafters Choice Pastel basics papers
Wood effect paper
Sugar n spice Pastel papers (some are scraps)
White cardstock for making brace at bottom of calendar
Sequins and tiny black pearls
Black and Silver embossing powder + heat tool
Staples and stapler
Couture Creations 2019 Calendar tabs

I would like to enter these calendars in:-

Daisies

Hello again,

Well blogger is being a pest, this is my third attempt to get this post up.... I nearly had the whole lot typed up and it just vanished and hitting undo worked until I tried to add something again....

Thank you for all the kind thoughts and well wishes after my surgery, I had no pre-cancerous cells this time! so rather than surgery every 6 months I have a reprieve and will have surgery to check up on things in 12 months.

This is the card I made last week for my Mum's birthday, I have used a similar layout and some of the same patterned paper I used on the rose card I shared here. The main image is a stamp I bought at the local craft show almost a year a go from a local Aussie stamp company but I cannot find it any where online... only the business side seems to have a website.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
12.6cm x 17.8cm (5x7") card blank
Heidi Swapp wide striped paper and glitter paper
Sugar 'n' Spice patterned paper
Stamp-It Australia 'Daisy Bunch' cling stamp
Prismacolor watercolour pencils + water
Ranger clear embossing ink
Wow! Ebony super fine embossing powder
Whispers Opaque Embossing powder
Wplus9 wide scalloped border die

MFT pierced fishtail flags die
Brads and sequins from my stash
