Christmas gift holders

 Hello again,

Well I'm not sure about you but Christmas seems to have come around very quickly now it is all over for another year. We had summery Christmas and boxing days here in Australia 26C for Christmas day and 24C yesterday, today the weather has turned back to winter and it is only 10C and wet and drizzly outside. I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and got to spend time with those that you love, we are heading back into restrictions from today with rising case numbers and over 400 told they were negative when they were actually positive for covid-Omicron.

I am sharing the last two Christmas cards I made, these were for Mum who I gave some digital books to, nothing to wrap so I came up with gift card holders and printed the book covers and put them inside adding numbers to ones that came from a series, nothing drastically exciting I'm sure these have been seen around online in varying degrees over the years, apologies for the black looking buttons on the Santa suit, they are gold mirri card and are hard to photograph.

Santa and elf card holders:

What I used:-

9.4cm scrap pieces of 12" cardstock red and green scored at 2" and 7"
White, silver, gold, patterned card, red and black cardstock scraps
Scalloped rectangle, oval and border dies
circle and square punches
belt buckle die
Hole punch to add ribbon ties to the back

LPoCF #172 Morgan's Art World

 Hello again,

We are finally experiencing some summer weather, we have been fog bound for much of the last few weeks and have had lots of rain here in eastern Australia, so much so that our cherry tree crop for the year went mouldy on the tree and we have grown algae in the grass (which I have tried treating the area with Bi-Carb soda to kill it off)...

Today at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends we have our last challenge for 2021, we are being sponsored by Morgan's Art World who kindly gave the Design Team three images to work with. I have used the rose from Morgan's Art World- Flowers 2 set to make a birthday card.

LPoCF #170 All Dressed Up

 Hello again,

Well on the local weather front we have had another drenching and gone from warm spring weather back to freezing cold winter weather, current outside temperature is 6.6C but with wind chill included feels like -2.6C. We are seeing less cases of the virus, although follow up appointments for Mum after her stroke have been swapped from in person to over the phone due to local cases within the hospital.

Today brings us to another all new Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by All Dressed Up who kindly gave the design team two images to work with. I have used Oriental Girl and created a fancy card which will go to a family friend as a birthday card.

 Hello again,

Things are starting to open up here in New South Wales with one big but, you must be double vaccinated. Lockdown continues for those of us who have not had access to the vaccine as much as the main city areas. School goes back this week and next first for Kindy, First and 12th grades, followed by the remaining grades. I will get to watch what happens over the next few weeks in terms of case numbers as the metropolitan area reopens.

This week brings us to an all new Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, our sponsor this fortnight is The Paper Shelter, who gave the Design Team one image to work with, Autumn Breeze, it comes with both a pre-coloured image and layout and a black and white image to colour yourself. Two Christmas cards

 Hello again,

I've managed to make two Christmas cards still using the scrappy bits of one paper pad from Doodlebug Designs 'north pole' there is maybe enough scraps for another card or two, a few squares I've die-cut in the past and then some narrow strips.

I am booked in for my first covid vaccine tomorrow, I was not able to book an appointment until early July and then the wait for the two nearest practices offering the jabs was the last few days of October, my local GP clinic finally got offered some of the vaccine for my age group and I was able to bring my appointment forward by one month. With the current lockdown (3months) rules lifting for vaccinated Sydneysiders before our area had access to the vaccine, locals are not happy that tourists will be able to visit our area when we have had less opportunity to have the vaccine. One of the two clinics actually wrote in to the local newspaper that there had been no vaccines offered for three weeks due to the doses being redirected to Sydney. whinging over....

Here are my two cards:-

What I used:-
White 17.8x12.6cm card blanks
Doodlebug Design 'north pole' paper pad
CCD quilt die
Oval, circle and scalloped circle dies
Red, grey and green cardstock
Green brad
MFT 'hand-lettered holiday greetings' and 'Hand-lettered Christmas' stamps
Colorbox Ruby ink pad
Clear embossing powder
Adhesives:- DS tape, PVA glue

Hexagon Mad

 Hello again,

We are currently having a warm winters day and the washing is getting a good blow through, before an expected cool change later this week. I have been busy during our current lockdown using up a couple of ancient paper pads, one a Christmas pad from Doodlebug Designs called 'North Pole' which has maybe a whole 6" square left to use up, if you join all the little bits together and it is definitely not going back in the box for use again next year. I have used a magazine subscription stamp set 'Pretty Patchwork' to make several cards one is a birthday card the others Christmas.

Here are my cards:-

This birthday card is on the way to a quilt making friend, she is currently under her first lockdown after a person infected with covid-19 went into her regional area, so hopefully this brings a smile for her birthday over the weekend....

As you can see I stamped and cut out many hexagons and made them into tree shapes on the card fronts adding a bow (store bought) to the top of the tree and the sentiment at the bottom, I was a little high on the first one the next two worked out well...

My last card features a MFT stamp called Pure Innocents Elf Girl along with some larger hexagons

What I used:-
4x 12.6x17.8cm card blank
1x 10.5x14.8cm card blank

LPoCF Christmas in July

 Hello all,

We are expecting Snow here today! A real Christmas in July or Yulefest here in the mountains outside Sydney... We are also entering our fourth week of lockdown due to the Delta variant getting out of hotel quarantine, only one person is allowed out to go to the supermarket each day... masks are mandatory except for whilst exercising and at home.... so the local tour operators won't be celebrating Yulefest for the second year running...

I have used an image called Kitty and the Ornament from our sponsor Fred She Said who kindly gave the DT Five images to work with, our second sponsor is Fabrika Fantasy

LPoCF #160 Twinkle Lane Designs

 Hello again,

In the last week we have had a light dusting of snow here in the mountains, which always brings Sydneysiders out to look and photograph themselves in the snow, much closer than a 3+ hour trip to the snow fields nearer to Canberra. One week on there is still a snowman in a street round the corner, and of all the days my birds chose the snow day to bathe in their water bowls in their cages.

Today brings us to the latest Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates at Lil  Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Twinkle Lane Designs, who kindly gave the Design team two images to work with, I have used an image called Hot Chocolate Girl to make a card for a coffee loving friend, I'm planning on adding a birthday sentiment stamp to the inside.

LPoCF #154 Bountiful Blooms

 Hello again,

Today brings us to another Anything goes Challenge with my Team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Rachel Vass Designs- Etsy Shop, I chose to use a digi that came sized for a slimline card called 'Bountiful Blooms', right now I have left it sentiment free, I can add one at a later date.

This week may see us have nearly 1m or 3feet of rainfall where I live, our laundry is flooded although the rain has just been constant rather than extremely heavy downpours like last year when the train line washed away the next town up the mountain. The main dam for Sydney has gone from below 40% full last year to now overflowing, a new bridge in a known flood area was built with the intention that it would never be under flood, has had all traffic stopped from using it as the water is lapping just below the road level and is expected to go under water in the next few hours...

Couple of Cards

 Hello again,

I'm enjoying a couple of much cooler days after a week long heat wave 33C+, my poor budgies are all fluffed up trying to keep warm (14C) and have started moulting... while running back-up on my computer this morning I decided to make another Christmas card for my stash. This one is number 8 for the year...

This card is a total scrap/snippet job I stamped the dog onto a snippet of white card stock and heat embossed in black powder before scribbling with watercolour pencils on another scrap of card and painting them onto the image. I die cut the sentiment from a scrap of silver paper and on the photo the Christmas looks a little lost against the background, not so bad IRL. The holly and berries were cut from some more scraps from Doodlebug papers.. the green leaves are from a different paper pad there are flowers on the back....

MFT Deck the Howls stamp set
Doodlebug North Pole/Santa Express Papers
Scrap silver paper with Adhesive sheet on back
Spellbinders 'Christmas' sentiment die
MFT 'Wishes' sentiment die
MFT Stitched inner/outer rounded rectangle die
Cottage Cutz Holly and berries die
Wink of Stella on ornaments

I would like to enter this card in:

I have also made one birthday card using my distress oxide inks smooshing them on my gelli plate, spritzing with water, heat drying before moving on to the next colour. I then using the same colours to paint the heat embossed butterfly adding a tiny drop of water so the colours are brighter inside the stamped image.

edit... not sure how but forgot to add the watermark over my card...

Katzelkraft Daisy Butterfly
Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet and Fossilised Amber
Clear embossing ink
Whispers Opaque and black Embossing powder
Pink, white, silver card
MFT Essential Sentiments stamp
MFT Pierced fishtail flag die
Waffleflower C7 layered stitched dies
