LPoCF #260 Polkadoodles

 Hello again,

I hope your weather is being much nicer than ours, we have been stuck inside due to daily rain, on the days it does not rain it is still too cold to dry the washing on the line. A town about 20mins away had a large sandstone cliff give way, 200,000 tonnes, thankfully not at a time people may have been rock climbing. We are expecting snow in the area, in towns at a higher elevation.

I have a few exercises to do to build my shoulder in the hopes I will be able to manage crutches so I can have my ankle surgery, we have 4 steps to get onto the porch, one extra to get into the house, physio has also suggested shuffling up the stairs on my backside, getting moveable stairs to raise me high enough to sit on a chair, then manage only the step into the house, this will still need a degree of shoulder stability.

On to my card, Today brings us to another all-new Anything goes challenge with my team mates at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Polkadoodles, who gave the team two digi stamps to work with. I have used Parkie Polar Bear and Theo Penguin to make a Christmas Card.

N for Navy and Nativity

Hello again,

Well I have skipped a few days with the challenges here and there and today I am returning to the letter ‘N’ I have gone with N is for Navy and Nativity. I had a few problems making this one, I had it all finished when I realised that the main panel was skewed which lead me to rescue the panel and attach it to another card, it was then to narrow to fit the same card blank and I had to come up with something else. Out came a tent fold card (spine along short side) and you guessed it the panel was too wide which lead to trimming it off bit by bit.. I then decided it looked too plain and dug around in my white scrap bag and found the embossed panel which I cut in half and added to each side.

Here is my card:-
What I used:-
White 12.4x17.4cm card blank
White embossed card (Embossing folder from Snippets Playground)
Impression Obsession Nativity and shepherd dies
White, silver and navy cardstock all from my scrap bags
Memory Box Typewriter Holiday Sentiment stamp
Silver embossing powder
Clear embossing ink
Check ribbon
Adhesives:- Double sided tape and adhesive sheet.

Cheeky Christmas

Hello again,

Well, I was busy, busy, busy last week making multiple Christmas cards including two cards with tongue most firmly in cheek. The first card I had an idea for a certain stroppy teen boy who lives next door, I saved one of my Aussie Santa images that I coloured and paper pieced the clothes and planned a graffiti look card with a bold sentiment heat embossed in white powder, a few smaller Christmas sentiments also heat embossed in red and black with a few tiny stamps added in for effect. unfortunately some of the tiny star stamps are hard to see, perhaps I should have used a different colour, but yellow did seem a good choice. The young lad was often caught hanging around at a local street art walk, not my cup of tea but bus loads of tourists seem to like it

My second card is for one of my Mum's kindy friends, who loves a good cheeky card, it features one of Bugaboo Stamps called Friends Don't Let Friends Wine alone 2, and a sentiment I have seen elsewhere which I typed up in two parts, the front has I'm dreaming of a White Christmas... and the inside has but if the white runs out I'll drink the red.

Here the first card:-

White Christmas:-
White 5x7" card blank 12.6x17.8cm

Bugaboo Image 'Friends don't let friends wine alone 2'

A Scottie Christmas

Hello again,

Well it’s almost summer, the cherries are plentiful and ripening nicely, the birds have still managed to take a few from the tree despite our best efforts to protect all the summer fruits growing in the backyard. I’ll be glad when this heat wave is over, bring on the cool change!

I made a second card for my friend in today, I bought this lovely die from Marianne Designs a while ago and this is the first time I have used it. I had the die out ready to make a card several weeks ago and to my surprise Miss Di, from Pixie's Snippets Playground had made a card featuring a different little scotty here and another one here, my intention was to use some tartan or plaid papers and I put the die away until my new paper pack from Lawn Fawn turned up having been on back order.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 14.8x 10.5cm card blank
Lawn Fawn Christmas plaid paper pad
Snippets of gold and red mirri card, white and green card
Marianne Design Creatable Scotty die
Impression Obsession Holly Cluster die
MFT Cross Stitched Rectangles
Hero Arts Merry Stamp and cut
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Bow from Stash

Adhesives:- Double sided tape, foam tape and diamond glaze

The green background paper is from the same sheet from a card I made earlier in the year for another teen which you can see here
