‘Peace on Earth’

Hello again,

Well after one full on week, a week of peace and quiet reigned whilst I slept on the lounge as I recovered from the chest infection I picked up visiting a club with my Uncle and Aunt over a week ago my Aunt is a huge fan of a local Ukulele group and invited us to come too, the antibiotics have kicked in but still feeling a little under the weather…
I decided to finish off a card I partially made for the recent Bugaboo Christmas in July challenge which I tossed aside after realising that it did not meet the challenges…

Gold, red, white and cream paper and card scraps

MFT Pierced Oval die

Bugaboo Christmas in July Final Day

Hello again,

Well today brings us to the seventh and final day of this years Christmas in July Celebration and fun Challenges over at Bugaboo’s Catch theBug Blog. Today brings us to Freebie Friday and a Colour Challenge which you can see below.

When I first saw the Fuchsia picture and the colours selected from it I was a little concerned about my paper choices, but in the middle of the night I remembered that I have some Doodlebug Design Papers that came with a 100 sheet block which would fit the colours nicely, mixed in with another paper pack from Doodlebug Designs I bought more recently.

I coloured parts of the image twice so I could layer up Rudolph’s shirt and the top two presents on some foam adhesive, I also added some Diamond glaze to his nose, eyes and antlers… I could have sworn I had some gold stickles for his antlers… never mind it looks fine with the glaze and silver frame…

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 5”x7” card blank
Faber-Castell Pencils
Amethyst (AC) cardstock
Doodlebug Design Papers ‘Holiday Trimmings’
Doodlebug Design Papers ‘Christmas pack’
Silver glitter cardstock
Fiskars Scalloped border punch
MFT Stitched oval Scallop Frame
MFT Gift tag greeting Stamps
Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad
Darice Bakers Twine
Francheville glittered enamel dots
Purple gel ink pen
Clear sequins from stash
Diamond Glaze
Adhesives:- Diamond Glaze, Double-sided tape & sheet, foam tape
Stanley knife, steel rule & cutting mat, fine point scissors

Christmas in July day 6 Photo Inspiration

Hello again,

Today the lovely ladies of Catch the Bug challenge have an inspiration photo for us which you can see below, being an Aussie, seeing Santa at beach locations is reasonably common during the festive season (on TV for me), sometimes Santa even arrives via boat at coastal locations, much to the delight of the young, young at heart and visitors from abroad.

I took my inspiration from the beach location, the inviting water and the fun you can have at the beach;

I have used another of Jodie’s Bugaboo images Trop Santa Surfing which you can find here in store. This month Jodie is celebrating Christmas in July with a lovely gift for us all 50% off the whole store, a great time to collect some more of her fabulous work…

I used up some paper scraps from a discount store brand water colour printed paper pad and a scrap of Sunflower cardstock to create a beachy scene, adding Stickles to the torn edge of the paper as the bubbles that form on the sand as the waves comes in. Santa was coloured with Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils and adhered with some foam tape.

I have borrowed an old sketch I found online with a search for sketches it came from, From the Heart Stamps. I wish I had used a larger rectangle of embossing so that it can be seen more easily. I finished off the card with a sentiment from Lili of the Valley and a flower that  is meant to be a frangipani... this card will be headed to one of the relatives in either England or Scotland.

Here is my card:-

(My photo does not do the colours much justice, all much more vivid in real life....)

What I used:-

Faber-Castell and Derwent pencils
Amy Tangerine design papers
Merci water colour mini stack (Big W Australia)
Dark blue & crimson cardstock
Scrap white & sunflower cardstock

Bugaboo Christmas in July Recipe Day 5

Hello again,

Well we are past the half way mark in this years annual Christmas in July celebration and challenge week, today brings us to Humour me Wednesday and a recipe challenge.

Recipe:
Make it Funny (Crabby Cat and Sentiment)
Use scallops (Lawn Fawn Stitched scalloped border)

This month Paulette has join forces with Desire from her Design Team to host an all new Challenge- Anything goes with a TLC image or sentiment challenge.

Butterfly Wishes

Hello again,

My friends Daughter in law is having her birthday soon and I was asked to create a card and use some Japanese Paper on it if possible. Metallics seem to be in at the minute with crafters and decorators and I raided my stash of scraps for some gold card, I found two suitable pieces, in separate places (I keep big scraps in an A4 display book, little scraps are in zip-lock bags by colour)

I haven't tried using both an embossing folder and die together on same card I wasn't really sure whether I should be embossing or die cutting first, I tried both ways and eventually decided that the Piestra tile die was delicate and embossing after cutting made the fragile joins break away, so emboss first cut second in this case, I can see this working the other way round for other less delicate dies and shapes.

I’m also wishing I had covered the card blank in black paper or card stock to give the card more definition or oomph…

I finished this card on Saturday afternoon and this morning discovered over in Snippets Playground Brenda had created one incredibly similar which you can see here, I promise I haven't copied her work Miss Di...

This card is currently winging its way all the way to Japan while my friend takes some time off to visit her family...

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank 10.5cm x 14.7cm
White card stock
Memory Box Piestra Tile die
Elizabeth Crafts Butterfly die overlay #2
Elizabeth Crafts Butterfly Silhouette die
Gold mirrored card stock
Japanese Paper
Elizabeth Craft bunch of flowers 2 die

Spellbinders m-bossabilities Folder EL-005
Black and white scrap card
Paper Smooches Sentiment sampler stamps
Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad

Adhesives:- Double-sided tape, P.V.A. glue & foam tape

I would like to enter this card in:-
