Box card 40th Birthday

Hello again,

One final post before the big day, this one is my brother's 40th birthday card which I held off posting until after the day had been, he lives interstate and my parents drove down for a pre birthday party, being born Christmas week makes celebrating on the real day more difficult. I stayed home due to my complicated low histamine and Auto-Immune Protocol Diet, he will have opened his presents and cards so it is safe to share them here.

I did a little digging into 'famous' or 'popular' movies, bands/songs, kids toys, games etc. before making the card featuring a couple of big hit movies of 1977, I also bought him a genuine 1977 hit game, no not the true 1977 version but the still available in toy stores Rummikub, Star Wars Calendar, 40th Anniversary copy of Smokey and the Bandit etc. I haven't heard back from him so don't know how everything went down....

Here is my card:

What I used:-
Black card stock
MME My Girl patterned paper
MME Happy Day papers
R2D2 Pattern from here (I shrunk it to the right size and added my own design)
Viewmaster made by tracing a photo of one I found on Google
Free Download James Bond (Papercrafts inspirations-no longer available)
CCD Balloon Die
CCD Sentiment Die
Lawn Fawn Riley's Alphabet
Black fine line pen
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
1977 printed in large print on PC and cut out of silver glitter card
Various coloured scrap card stock to make all the elements
Black and white twine
Clear acetate- saved from packaging
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, foam adhesive, Diamond Glaze, glue dots
The balloons all got a liberal coating of Diamond glaze to give them some shine

Cheeky Christmas

Hello again,

Well, I was busy, busy, busy last week making multiple Christmas cards including two cards with tongue most firmly in cheek. The first card I had an idea for a certain stroppy teen boy who lives next door, I saved one of my Aussie Santa images that I coloured and paper pieced the clothes and planned a graffiti look card with a bold sentiment heat embossed in white powder, a few smaller Christmas sentiments also heat embossed in red and black with a few tiny stamps added in for effect. unfortunately some of the tiny star stamps are hard to see, perhaps I should have used a different colour, but yellow did seem a good choice. The young lad was often caught hanging around at a local street art walk, not my cup of tea but bus loads of tourists seem to like it

My second card is for one of my Mum's kindy friends, who loves a good cheeky card, it features one of Bugaboo Stamps called Friends Don't Let Friends Wine alone 2, and a sentiment I have seen elsewhere which I typed up in two parts, the front has I'm dreaming of a White Christmas... and the inside has but if the white runs out I'll drink the red.

Here the first card:-

White Christmas:-

What I used:- Aussie Santa
White 5x7" card blank 12.6x17.8cm
White and black cardstock
Kaisercraft 'Basecoats' papers
Make It Crafty Aussie Santa Digi Stamp

Derwent and Faber-Castell pencils
MFT Stamp sets Gift Tag Greetings, Hand Written Holiday, Jingle all the way
Tiny Star stamps CTMH- The Thought that counts
Merry Christmas stamp- Papermill Stamp
Black, green, red, yellow and clear embossing ink
White and clear embossing powder
Wink of Stella on Santa's Beard

White Christmas:-
White 5x7" card blank 12.6x17.8cm
Kaisercraft Yuletide Patterned papers
Bugaboo Image 'Friends don't let friends wine alone 2'
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
Impression obsession Snowflake die
Nesting rectangle dies
Tiny pearls
Wink of Stella over bottles and the ladies drinks
Sentiment typed on PC

Trio of Christmas cards

Hello again,

Back to share a few more Christmas cards, these three cards all feature images from DigiStamp Boutique, the first has three of the cutest and fluffy penguins which I coloured brightly to go with some of my Doodlebug Designs Paper, adding a die cut sentiment and a few stars to finish off.
Note:- DigiStamp Boutique are having a sale at the moment 50% off all in store.... apologies for enabling you 😁

The second card has a super cute Pug decked out in some reindeer antlers, teamed up with a sentiment from Memory Box set ‘Here comes Santa Paws’ a very clean and simple design for me.

My third card features a little robin carol singing, with a corner holly die and a poinsettia to finish off the card, the sentiment was embossed in 32C heat and the embossing ink was much faster in drying out, at least I didn’t have the heat gun on for long.

I added plenty of sparkle to each of the cards, on the first and third card with Glitter paint and on the little Pugs antlers and star ornaments a liberal coating of Wink of Stella.
What I used:-
5x7" card blanks (12.6x17.8cm)
Cardstock-teal, red, white, olive green
Patterned papers from my stash-various brands, Kaisercraft, doodlebug designs, some magazine freebies
Derwent and Faber-Castell Pencils
Marianne Design Star punch die
Marianne Design Poinsettia die
Impression Obsession Holiday Top word Edger
Impression Obsession Holly Flourish
CCD Scalloped border die
CCD Pindot Rectangle die
MFT Merry Christmas Sentiment die

Naughty or Nice?

Hello again,

Today brings us to another brand new challenge over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends and as always the challenge is Anything Goes, so come along and join in the fun with whatever you have been making, we have two lovely sponsors this fortnight offering a lovely prize to two winners…

Prize 2 images

Prize 2 Packs from the store

I have used a super cute image from Emerald Faeries called Boo and Snookie which you can find here and some lovely Christmas themed papers from AMB Illustrations - Christmas Traditional Evergreen Paper After colouring up the cute little faerie image which reminds me of the Gumnut Babies with the little hat on I decided to give the little snail a little Christmas Bling and coloured and added some Kindy Glitz glitter glue to the shell. I printed off some tiny sample patches of the papers from AMB Illustrations before deciding on the three I ended up using, I’m fairly new to printing my own papers and discovered in word that I could use the pattern paper image to fill shapes, so working with my usual sized card blank I measured and made different sized rectangles to fit and lay one over the top of the other exactly where I wanted it to be, printing off the card front panel and two smaller squares of the red and green spotted paper to die cut some holly leaves and berries.

I have a confession, I had nearly finished this card and was adding the sentiment when I dropped the inked stamp onto the card, fortunately missing the image.... I reprinted the design adding the white circle over the patterned papers before I hit print, stamped sentiment directly onto the card and added the rescued and now fussy cut image onto the card front....

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White 10.5x14.8cm card blank
Emerald Faeries Image Boo and Snookie
AMB Illustrations Christmas Traditional Evergreen Paper Pack
Faber-Castell and Derwent coloured pencils
Red Kindyglitz
Cottage Cutz Holly and berries die
scrap of die cut grass

O Holy Night

Hello again,

Well not making enough of my Christmas cards all year long came back to bite me on the you know where, I think I have made about fourteen cards this week (and still have a couple more I need)👀, some were batch makes of the Aussie Santa in Sydney, I didn’t even worry about taking pics of them.

I had bought a new die from the recent craft show I attended, from a shop who has begun creating their own designs Catchy Crafts are also one of the biggest stall holders at the craft shows, the new die is called Bethlehem Town and I made two cards with the die, one is winging its way to my 94 year old Great Aunt who lives in far north Queensland and the other a hop across the road.

I must say that I have been severely influenced by Shaz in Oz in these cards, love the embossing with the scroll like sentiment on the first and reminds me I should dig out embossing folders more often. Thank you for the inspiration Shaz!

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-

White card stock to make card blank measuring 11cm x 17.5cm

White and Black AC card for embossing

Kaisercraft Lattice 5x7 embossing folder

Kaisercraft Damask 5x7 embossing folder

Silver Embossing powder

Clear embossing ink

Silver embossed paper

Spray ink background

Rainbow cardstock

Memory Box Parker Upper Case Alphabet Die

Impression Obsession Stamp ‘Jack Frost’ sentiment stamp

MFT stitched inner and outer oval

Adhesive:- Double Sided Adhesive sheet, Foam tape, double sided tape

I think all our Christmas cards have been written and will get popped in the post tomorrow, minus a couple of hand deliveries and two to my friends who seem to move around a lot. Holding theirs in reserve until one of them confirms an address or two.

Outback Santa

Hello again,

Today brings us to the final day of the month long Holiday Card challenge over at Beccy's Place and today the challenge is to do what you love. I love the Aussie Santa I used on these cards and had another two printed out and ready to go, but decided not to make another card with Sydney City as the backdrop, this time I grabbed some white core card stock and got ripping to create layers of the Aussie bush as a backdrop blue sky the green of the Aussie bush and the red earth of the outback with a new Windmill die, a very familiar sight once you leave suburbia. Many windmills have the property name either painted or roughly cut from the vane others (I've seen lots) with Southern Cross on the vane.

Here is my card:-

Bond James Bond

Hello again,

So this month I had a big push to make a couple of 40th Birthday cards for my brother along with all the Christmas cards, after looking up some of the popular films, shows, toys and games of 1977 I settled on a suit card with a James Bond image for the first, James Bond The Spy who Loved me was first released in 1977 and can still be found in DVD format, which my parents gave him last weekend, a surprise for us that he intends on waiting to open his gifts and cards until his real birthday a few days before Christmas. Since he doesn't see my blog it is safe for me to share.

I was inspired by this card which I found on Pinterest but gave the card my own twist.

Here is my card:-

Aussie Wreath

Hello again,

Well I’m still motoring through some more Christmas cards, today I am sharing a super quick card, I have used a pre-coloured digi from Beccy’s Place that you can find here called Aussie Wreath Set  I printed the image out and decided to add the sentiment in under the wreath and came across the little bird stamp also. The little birds fitted perfectly across the wreath. Stamped the sentiment in two parts and the little birds in clear embossing ink before heat embossing in gold, I die cut the image with a nesting rectangle die and added it to a 5x7” card blank that I covered in some green Christmas paper.
Bonus it is completely flat for postage!

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White 5x7” card blank 12.6x17.8cm

Green paper from old magazine

Clear embossing ink

Gold embossing powder

Sentiment stamp- Clearly Besotted

Birds with String of Stars- Magazine

Nesting rectangle die

Sydney Santa Summer

Hello again,

Well I’m still making some more of my Christmas cards, as I haven’t made anywhere near enough, knowing that Mum had requested extra Aussie Christmas cards for our UK relatives I printed out four Aussie Santas from Make it Crafty on both plain paper and card, then paper pieced the singlet and shorts from my Christmas scrap bag before recreating the Sydney harbour I made on this card here using up more paper and card scraps to form the scene.

I used my spray inks to create the sky and water on separate pieces of card and watercolour paper the ocean turning a little greener than intended, but still looks ok.

These two cards were finished off with some 3D Crystalina Kindy glitz to the waves and the edge of the sand before I popped Santa up on foam to add dimension. Sentiment was added using clear embossing ink and some black embossing powder.

Here are the two Sydney Santa cards:-

What I used:-

White 5x7” card blank (12.6 x 17.8cm)
London Blue and Cut grass ink spray-Dylusions
White card
Sights of Sydney Die Ultimate Crafts
Scrap card and papers
Kaisercraft Base Coat papers
Wink of Stella Clear (added to Santa’s beard)
Derwent and Faber-Castell Pencils
Kindy Glitz 3D Crystalina
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, Double sided sheet, foam dots
Stamps- Magazine Freebies
WOW! Ebony embossing powder
Ranger Clear Embossing ink pad

LPoCF #70 Beary Merry Christmas

Hello again,

Today brings us to another brand new challenge over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends and as always the challenge is Anything Goes, so come along and join us with whatever you have been working on, we would love to see what you have been doing, we have two lovely sponsors this fortnight offering a lovely prize to two winners…

Prize 2 Packs from the store

Prize 2 Images

I was given a very cute little Winter Bear out feeding little birds from our sponsor AMB Illustrations called Merry Beary Bear, I knew what patterned papers I wanted to use and coloured the little bear in colours to suit, adding some Fairy Crystal glitter paint to the ground and some dotted around the little bear. I cut the 15cm square paper diagonally to cover the front of a 13cm square card blank with a small misalignment in one corner. I found some scrap card to die cut the flourish and poinsettia in my bits box, cutting the flourish up into three pieces to fan it out hiding the cuts behind the poinsettia which I made up and allowed to dry out before adding to the card. A tiny sentiment from a Kaisercraft set called ‘Home for Christmas’ to finish the card off.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White 13cm square card blank
Faber-Castell Pencils
Papers from stash, Magazine freebies two different packs
Gold, red, green and yellow card scraps
MFT Flourish die small
Marianne Design die Poinsettia
CCD Cross Stitched Oval die
Glitter paint-Crystalina
Adhesives:- double sided tape, PVA glue and foam tape
Sentiment Kaisercraft ‘Home for Christmas’ clear stamp
