One for the Boys

Hello again,

Today brings us to a new Challenge for Crafting by Designs, we would love you to join in our and show us what you are making, we have lovely sponsor this week Ike’s Art will be giving the lucky winner $20 gift certificate for their store.

Prize $20 gift certificate for the store

I have made a card for my neighbour’s son, who will be 18y later this year, they have been here since he was two. I used my Distress Oxide Inks to create a background, having a bit of playtime working out which colours I would use, this panel has Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers and Broken China. Test stamped on my sample piece and heat embossed with some metallic glitter embossing powder to be sure that was the right colour combo to go with, the stamps are from my mixed bag of stamps from Darkroom Door. I added some die cut and hand punched stars to the panel before adding the sentiment which I heat embossed in black and fussy cut, adding die cut numbers for his age. Sentiment is popped up on some double sided foam tape. When it was all finished and put together I wished that I had thought to add some extra texture by way to some cotton or twine, behind the sentiment, but all was stuck down tight. Some bling added randomly to finish the card.

Here is my card:-

Get Ready for Christmas

Hello again,

I'm running extremely late with this post, this week brought us to a new Challenge for Crafting by Designs, we would love you to join in our Get Ready for Christmas challenge and show us what you are making, we have a lovely sponsor this week All Dressed Up  will be giving the lucky winner $12 gift certificate for their store.

PRIZE $12 gift certificate for their shop

I have used one of our sponsors super cute digi stamps A Star is Born and in an effort to keep me on track for the number of Christmas cards I need I have made a two of cards with the image, I have gone a little modern with my patterned papers, I fell in love with Kaisercraft Christmas Jewel papers they released last year, welllll, they are purple it was pretty much a given that they would find their way home with me.

I printed the image twice one is slightly larger than the other, having a plan to use my Kaisercraft Bracket dies on one. Due to the larger size of the Kaisercraft paper pads I didn’t need to hide any paper joins on the C7 (5x7”) card blank, the sentiment came in the paper pad pre die cut. I added some stars die cut and punched from silver glitter paper to finish my card off.

My second card uses some of my scrappy papers from a pad called Home for Christmas, the striped paper was cut already, I cut it in half to make sure that it looks like it covers the whole card front masking the gap with the poinsettia paper, the sentiment was a part of a chalkboard page which I cut out.

This challenge is open until May 29th, and you can add your project by using the Linky tool below. Please be sure to link your project back to us.

Mother's Day

Hello again,

I’m back to share the card I made for my Mum for Mother’s Day, I have gone back to a plain fold card as last year I made a fancy ‘Joy Fold’ card which although pretty, collapsed and couldn’t support its self 😞

I have used a pretty hydrangea stamp which arrived with my magazine subscription to Australian Simply cards, Mum loves the blue/mauve hydrangea flowers and until a large storm butchered and killed our bushes, were grown in the back yard, due to our soil type the flowers were always pink and to get the blue flowers she wanted most required buying ‘blueing tonic’.

This has been the first time I have used my Prismacolor pencils, they  were a Christmas Present from my brother and his craft loving wife two Christmases ago... I will admit being a little scared of them...

After heat embossing, colouring and die cutting the main panel, I decided it was a little flimsy and I die cut an extra piece of stiff card board from a cereal box to help stiffen and straighten it out. One of my papers is very old and treasured; you know the ones you like to collect and look at from time to time but rarely bring yourself to use any… I bought a mixed paper pack from Doodlebug designs when I first bought my Cuttlebug…. Probably 10 years ago or so…

I think this must be a first for me, I’m usually madly making my Mother’s Day card the day before, and this must be a record…. Now just need to find a present…

Here is my card:-
