Paper Pieced Santa

Hello again,

I’m back today with another Christmas card, since I have fallen behind on making them. I decided to combine a couple of different challenges including Jingle Belles who this fortnight would like to see ‘Santa Baby’, 52 Christmas Card Throwdown who would like to see some paper piecing.

This is my second card this year featuring paper piecing again using a digi image, this one is from Bugaboo and is called Stocking Santa Star. I went through my many images and chose this image because it was less complex than most others and would be easier to piece.

I printed Santa out on plain paper first then added my cut paper pieces to the top of the image using some washi tape to hold them in place, before reprinting the image again.

I have used no sentiment on the front other than to add a postmark from my set of Christmas Postmarks, allowing the receiver to read the landmarks on the map, which include the Candy Cane forest, Yule Loggery and Abominable Snowman's Cave.

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
White 14.8cm x 10.5cm card blank
Faber-Castell pencils
Pebbles ‘Home for Christmas’ Design Paper
Clear Sequins
Memento Tuxedo Black
Kaisercraft Twig and Berry 'Postmarks'
Adhesives:- PVA Glue, Double sided tape, Foam tape

I have fallen behind in My Christmas Card Making!!!!

Okay so if you come here frequently you will know that I prefer digi stamps over rubber /or clear stamps BUT earlier this year one of my Favourite Aussie Online Stores announced that they would now be stocking the ever cute Lawn Fawn stamps and die sets, I love these sets but they can be incredibly hard to find here in Australia, so I pounced on them ordering a couple of Christmas sets and a floral set.

Today was my first play with them and they are simply wonderful. I had thought about what I would make for this months challenge with Mo and sketched up my basic card. I can see a few more of these getting made.

Dig it…

Hello again,

On the computer front my screen is functioning a little better, although still a little blurry, I've changed font sizes, it has a better functioning driver and at least my images no longer look like one of those crazy mirrors squashed down from the top and squeezed in from the sides....

I am joining in with this months stamp of the month challenge over at From the Heart Stamps, this is a progressive challenge and each month that you enter you will receive the following months stamp for free. This months image features a gorgeous little dog and is called Digging Dog. If you would like to join in the challenge you can purchase the image from the store here, if you spend over $10 on some of Faiths other stunning Digi images, you can enter this code: Digging Dog to receive the image free found here.

My card has taken a little longer to make than I planned as I haven't been able to find something I know I have in my stash, you can bet that sooner or later I will rediscover the tiny wooden lady bugs in the most unlikely place and probably remember why I put them there in the first place. One bonus has been tidying up and sorting some of my stash as I looked. Since I didn't find the little bugs I have altered my card as I went

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
Derwent and Faber-Castell pencils
White 14cm square card blank
White cardstock
Dylusions London Blue ink spray mixed with water
White Colorbox inkpad mixed with water

Hello Monday

Hello again,

Happy Easter to all, don’t eat too much Chocolate…

A quick post as my PC is hurting my eyes, I have updated it to 10… my screen does not have the resolution it wants and cannot update; perhaps I’ll be going back to good old 7…. Anyone else had upgrade problems?

I made a quick card for this weeks From the Heart Stamps Sketch Challenge #144 with the option of the sketch or making a masculine card, using Birdbrain Coffee which I have coloured to represent one of my little budgies, sometimes he really does look at us like this, usually when we wake him too early or disturb one of his naps, usually turning his head upwards glaring at us with one beady eye.

Here’s my card:-

Why the cut off corner, some may ask, a design decision naturally, I certainly did not cut the card off short and get left with a bit missing from the corner, never not me…. :-) I altered my mistake by measuring and evenly cutting the corner off with the die.

In real life the coloured budgie is not quite as fluorescent green as it appears on screen, possibly just mine.... it is also distorted in shape...

What I used:-
White card blank 10.5cm x 14.8cm
Faber-Castell Pencils
Bella! Droplets
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Rectangles Die
Bo Bunny double Dots Very Vintage & Soft Shades
Papercraft Paper pad ‘Masculine’
Navy checked ribbon scraps
Paper and card scraps
Coffee on the Go Die –Memory box
Stanley Knife, Cutting mat, steel ruler
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, Xyron Create a sticker, foam dots

Many Thanks for looking in...

Easter Gift Bag #2

Hello again,

Well, I finished my Easter gift bag for Dad late last night and left it to dry… I used buttons from my stash as embellishments and they have all dried slightly askew, I must have used too much cotton. I have used my much loved MFT dies, stitched rectangle dies which I finally found across the country in WA with the lovely Bec from Bizzy Bec's

Here’s my gift bag:

and the two together you can see the first one here

What I used:-
White gift bag ribbon attached
AC Wave card stock
Strip of designer paper maker unknown
Faber-Castell Pencils
Buttons from stash
Diamond glaze adhesive
Foam and double-sided tape

Eggcellent Easter

Hello again,

I'm back with a second entry for the current Sketch with a tWist Challenge with From the Heart Stamps, I have made this time a gift bag for Easter. Using my second digi I won in the last blog hop, this one is called Easter Egg Birdbrains. This bag is for my Mum, I will have to make a second bag for Dad later this week…

I think we've had almost four seasons today, a clear blue sky and warm sun, cool autumn winds, cold grey clouds and rain.

The gift bag came from a fancy stationery store which was closing down, the bag has ribbon attached which you just pull through to close the bag.

Here’s my bag:-

What I used:-
Faber-Castell Pencils
White gift bag with ribbon closure
Green, Pink & Purple scraps cardstock
Pink wavy paper Francheville
Bo Bunny Double Dots Paper scrap
Elizabeth Carfts curvy leaves
The Craft Stall –Rose from stash
Silver glitter paper
Fiskars Lacy Days of Summer border punch
Diamond Glaze
Dylusions London blue ink spray and water
MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags Die
Stanley Knife, steel ruler, craft matt, paint brush
Adhesives:- glue stick, PVA glue, Double sided tape

For you...

Hello again...

Hope you are almost ready for Easter, I'm not.... at all ready, apart from posting my niece's little present off last week...

Today I am sharing a card for the current From the Heart Stamps Sketch Challenge #143 with a tWist. I was lucky enough to win twice on the last blog hop and chose this image called Mixed Bouquet as one of my prizes.

Here's the Challenge Sketch and the tWist this week is to use an embellishment from our stash, which was not that difficult to add in, I have added one of my special mulberry paper flowers, which was bought at the last craft show I was well enough to attend.

I have rotated my card and swapped the fishtail flag with a square, my fishtail dies were not wide enough to fit the image. I printed the sentiment and used a mini tab instead of the scallops.

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
White 14.8 x 10.4cm card blank
'Merci' brand patterned paper
Faber-Castell pencils
MFT Pierced Square Die
MFT Mini Tabs Foursome die
Pink & Sea Breeze card scraps
Mulberry Paper flower
The Craft stall enamel dots

Hippity Hoppity...

Hello again,

I’m joining in with the second challenge of MHK Designs, which ends in a couple of days. This month Mynn gave us another inspiration board featuring a gorgeously coloured bird and the colours from his plumage, with the option of Anything goes with MHK Designs. I have mixed and matched, using colours similar to the challenge board and using an image from MHK Designs to create an Easter pouch for my niece, she lives interstate and sending chocolate eggs is a no go in the heat.

When my niece visited early this year she told me about some special jelly beans which you basically dare people to eat. There is no other explanation for them, yuck comes to mind when you read the flavours in the pack, it even has a Caution warning on the pack! They look identical but could be e.g. Chocolate Pudding or Canned Dog food, Buttered Pop-corn or Rotten Egg, I'm sure you get the idea. GROSS!!!!

I made a sachet to hold the bag of beans using 15cm wide piece of card stock and my scoring board to create the folds. I took the tips of the fold over top off with my Fiskars corner rounder and have used some adhesive Velcro to close it up.

I created a little scene using Mynn’s Digi set called BunnyLove which I was lucky to win during the last blog-hop, the little bunny I used is so cute, I've altered him a little switching his single Lily for a small bouquet of punched flowers.

Here’s my sachet:-

What I used:-
Cascade Card stock American Crafts
Martha Stewart Scoring board
Fiskars Corner Rounder
Faber-Castell Pencils
Memory box Flying Birds Die

Shaken or Stirred?

Hello again,

Today I am sharing the card I made for the current From the Heart Stamps Sketch Challenge, which you can see below, I decided to use the Birdbrain Martini Chicks image for fun. I have used some of my long held generic papers bought many years ago which I never really wanted to cut into, I know I'm silly, what else is the paper for!

I had a little trouble with that pesky double-sided tape, this time it tore the text paper a little so not to be out done I grabbed the sanding block and gave it a bit of a rub randomly over the card...

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
Faber-Castell Pencils
5x7” card blank (12.7 x 17.8cm)
Script paper from stash
Stripe paper from stash
Paper Mill paper (Wedding) 6” pad
Black saddle stitch and green ribbon from stash
Generic Metallic Gems
Metallic Grey pinstripe card stock
MFT Stitched Rectangle dies (Bec is no longer stocking MFT)
Stanley knife, cutting mat, steel rule, sanding tool

Adhesives:- Double sided tape, foam tape, glue-dots
