LPoCF #196 Alex Syberia

 Hello all,

Today brings us to an all-new challenge over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by Alex Syberia who has kindly given each member of the design team an image to work with. I have used an image called Christmas Ornament to make a very quick card. I actually made a second card, which I liberally added glitter paint to, and the new printer ink ran ruining the whole idea.

LPoCF #192 Sheepski Designs Coffee and Cake

 Hello again,

Well, we have now had the wettest year on record in New South Wales, the last time it was this wet was the year my Mum was born... our current local rainfall for this year is 2419.3mm or about 95.2inches, we are currently sitting just under twice the average rainfall for area.

This fortnight brings us to another all new Anything Goes Challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, we are sponsored by SheepSki Designs and the Design Team chose four different images to work with. I chose one called Coffee and Cake and whilst I coloured and paper pieced the combined image I managed to smudge my finger through glue and decided that I would use the cake which came as a stand-alone image.

 Hello again,

Our weather is finally starting to warm up here in Australia, we have had snow predicted the last few days, but it has not arrived. Just cold and damp, we have now begun to see plants die from too much water, 20inches in 10 days was just too much.

This fortnight at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends we are being sponsored by Streamside Studios and they sell both digital and clear stamps. Each member of the design team was able to choose one digi set. I have used a set called Designer Birthday Cake to make a paper pieced cake.

LPoCF #186 The Paper Shelter

 Hello all,

Well we have had over 20inches of rain in the last 13 days the greatest amount in one day was 8inches and the bulk fell over just five days, we are starting to dry out again, the people who live on the plains area around Sydney are cleaning up after their 4th flood in 2years, some only just having replaced all their plasterboard walls and timber floors.... the train line has been cut again by another landslide which they currently estimate taking minimum six weeks to repair, lets hope the high winds don't cause any more trouble with trees falling...

This week brings us to an all new Anything goes challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by The Paper Shelter who kindly gave the Design Team one image to work with we are using the super cute Ellie Digital Stamp

LPoCF #184 Fred She Said

 Hello all,

I finally had to give in and get a new pc it works so much better than the 12yo one it has replaced but with new comes more issues, I have been blaming the old pc for shadows in the corner of my screen, turns out to be the screen with the problem although it will work for the time being, also my old printer is not compatible with the new pc, so new printer to come too.... it is also 12yo so really should be glad it has worked for so long, I will be plugging old pc in as needed to use printer until current inks run out so that I can continue my blog and design team commitments....

Today brings us to an all new Anything goes challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, apologies for the photo being dark, I can only think it is caused by the winter sun this week sees the Australian Winter Solstice. I have used two coloured images from our sponsor to make two male birthday cards, for a change I won't be madly making two cards for my Dad and Uncle who have birthdays the same week.

LPoCF #180 All Dressed Up Little Bookworm

 Hello again,

Autumn has well and truly arrived here in Australia, the trees are beautifully coloured and dropping all their leaves. I hope those of you who celebrate have a Wonderful and Happy Easter.

Today brings us to an all new Anything goes challenge with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends, this fortnight we are sponsored by All Dressed Up who are giving the winner 2 digi stamps of choice. All Dressed Up kindly gave us two images to use and I chose Little Bookworm I printed the image in two sizes and ended up colouring both and making two cards in two different sizes.

All Dressed Up

Prize 2 Digital Stamps

The first card is a smaller card A6 (10.4x 14.8cm) size using the image and some paper snippets to add to the sides, I printed the sentiment from my pc onto the darker pink cardstock and die-cut with MFT fishtail flags set, finished off with a trio of hand punched flowers with tiny gems added, the ribbon and bow on the flower were paper pieced with snippets of patterned paper on both cards.

The second card is C7 size or (12.6x17.8cm) I added the large sentiment from Inkylicious (I won from Snippets Playground) using Versa color Cyan ink cube and some clear embossing powder and another striped snippet, finishing this one off with three pre-made flowers which have a green gem in the centre, one flower is also glittered.

What I used:-
White card blanks Aussie A6 and C7 size
White card for printing
All Dressed Up Little Bookworm Digi image
Faber-Castell and Derwent coloured pencils
black and white striped paper
kraft, plain pink, blue and pink polka dot paper snippets
MFT stitched border die, MFT fishtail flag die
Hand punch- tiny flower
Inkylicious sentiment stamp
Versa Color ink Cyan
Pre-made flowers

P.S. Many thanks to all my blogging friends and visitors who stop by and leave me a comment, I truly appreciate them all! Apologies I've not been around much, my 12yo pc appears to be on the last legs, and has started randomly shutting down, usually when I'm in the middle of something. I changed the 'watch/button battery' inside the tower and all appears well at the minute.

LPoCF #178 All Dressed Up

 Hello again,

We are starting to dry out here, we have had over 2 feet of rainfall (in ten days) where I live and the yard and laundry flooded again, some silly people have crossed the local creek ahead of the rain storm and had to be rescued when surprise the creek became impassable and yes they stepped over the warning signs not to go into the bush due to the weather. Heading out to an appointment a group of people dressed only in their underwear were walking out of another part of the bush where local guides take people canyoning all of which remain closed after the extreme weather. We have had a small water-dragon move into our backyard, not sure how long it might stay as the pit drain has now only got mud left. The local train line has had two landslides and one sink hole, they are estimating a minimum two weeks until they can reopen the train line....

Japanese Inspired

 Hello again

Highly unusual for me to post twice in two days! I have a friend who has a Japanese daughter-in-law and asks me to create a card especially for her each year. I have been looking online and discovered a handmade card using Japanese papers which have been padded. I have gone fairly basic with my card and added an embossed background which is also seen in the patterned paper. A further search suggests this technique is called Japanese Padded Paper Quilting here is a link to another blogger Christine where I read about the technique.

Inside each square is a smaller square of cardstock which I attached a very thin layer of quilt batting, about 1/3 the usual thickness of the batting. I then wrapped the patterned paper around and stuck the paper edges onto the back. A little like covering school books.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-

White 10.5x14.8cm card blank
Embossing folder
Gold paper
white cardstock
Couture Creations 'Asian Wave' Embossing folder
Japanese paper squares
Stitched square dies
thin layer of quilt batting
Mystery Sentiment stamp
Clear embossing ink
Gold embossing powder

Rockin' Robins

 Hello again,

Well, we are still enjoying a wet summer here in Aus, our dams are full to over flowing. Having allergy to environmental moulds is no fun during Covid, my doctor tells me that so long as I don't have any other symptoms of Covid I am safe to go about my business.

During the most recent wet spell I got my Christmas gifts out and made six cards with paper pieced robins, all the scraps came from my scrap bags and boxes, I had intended to stamp the included sentiment in the top corner but for some reason the embossing powder did not stick, so covered up my mistake with little signs.

Here are my cards:-

What I used:-

10x21cm card blanks
white card stock
Woodware stamp Robin Stack clear stamp
Brown, red, orange, and green paper scraps
Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad
Clear embossing ink
Gold embossing powder
Scraps of kraft paper, narrow strips design papers
white loose glitter
Double sided tape, Helmars tacky craft glue
single hole punch (conveniently fit the size of the berries)

LPoCF #174 The Paper Shelter

 Hello again,

Happy New Year to you all! May this year be Happy, healthy, safe, prosperous and crafty! We are staying in, avoiding going out and about whilst the numbers of covid cases rise dramatically here in New South Wales, we have over 340,000 cases who are supposed to be remaining in isolation after testing positive.

Today brings us to our second Anything Goes Challenge for this year with my team mates over at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends for 2022! This fortnight we are sponsored by The Paper Shelter who kindly gave the Design Team Little Butterfly to use.

I have made a birthday card with the image and a Kaisercraft paper pad called  'Wandering Ivy', this is probably one of the easiest cards I have ever made, it is one sheet of paper with the bracket die cut out then I embossed the middle layer before carefully cutting around it as the next nesting size down was smaller than I wanted. The sentiment is from the same paper pad.

Here is my card:
