Christmas Kittens

Hello again,

Well after several weeks away from my blog, I have shared seven birthday cards for the coming year in Bugaboo’s sixth birthday celebration and now it must be time to get a head start on the year’s Christmas cards.

I have combined the Stamp of the Month stamp from From the Heart Stamps a really cute pair of kittens and a sketch challenge from the 12 Months of Christmas to create my card and I'm using up some paper which I've had for ages.

If you would like to join in with the From the Heart Stamps, Stamp of the Month Challenge you can purchase the Cozy Kittens image and sentiment set and the next challenge image will be emailed to you for free alternatively buy $10 worth of digi's and enter the code found here to receive the digi for free!

I have cut and scored my own card since I have a stack of envelopes I bought and no cards actually fit, so dimensions are 11.5cm x 17.5cm to fit a 12cm x 18cm envelope… you will probably be seeing several more cards in this size until envelopes are gone…

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
First Edition Paper Pad:- Christmas Village
White Card stock cut to 11.5 x 17.5cm
My Favourite Things Stitched Rectangle Die
My Favourite Things Pierced Fishtail Flags
My Favourite Things Sentiment Strips

Hippo Birthday

Hello again,

Well today brings us to day seventh and final day of Bugaboo’s Sixth Birthday Challenges, today's challenge is a recipe challenge which you can see below. Today my card features Jodie’s cute little hippo, which is a freebie right now if you would like to grab one for yourself.

I had previously coloured Jodie’s dollar cake digi, without colouring the candle or tray so that I could finish off when I knew what I was going to use it for, so behind the cake digi is a very feint version so I knew where to place the little hippo to fit both together on my card, also to help me accurately place the cake beside the hippo.

I also went way overboard with the bling, but sometimes corners look better with bling, some times one corner other times all corners...

Yippee I made it through all weeks challenges too!

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
Ivory card cut to 14cm square
Martha Stewart Scoring board
Faber-Castell Pencils
Typed sentiment in ‘Fish fingers’ Font
Papercraft Sweet Party Paper pad
Jennifer Ellory Bake a cake paper
Lifestyle crafts nesting rectangle die
Marianne Design Cupcake die (candle)
Bling from stash
Black fine line pen
Adhesives:- PVA glue, double sided tape, foam tape

Down in Deepest Africa

Hello again,

Well today brings us to the sixth day of Bugaboo's Sixth Birthday Celebrations and today the challenge they have set is to make a card based on a photo which you can see below, I have taken my inspiration from the animals on and around the cake and the cakes colour theme.

I have used three of Jodie's AKV animals on my card all of which are very very very cute printed out at such a small size.

I found some ancient scrapbook paper with a leopard type of print and decided that it worked well for this challenge...shame I didn't find it earlier...

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
Kraft Card blank DL size
white card for printing
Bugaboo images AKV Elephant, Lion and Hippo
Faber-Castell Pencils
MFT Pierced Rectangle Die
Blue Card stock
Blue paper twine

Monkey Cakes

Hello again,

Well looks like I'm on track to finish the week long 6th Birthday Jungle/Zoo celebration with the lovely ladies over at Bugaboo. Today’s challenge is Make it Funny & use an animal, today I coloured Monkey in and cut him out very carefully with my Stanley knife (so I could cut all the inner parts) finishing him off with a pair of scissors, I then tried to hide the cut marks with a black marker, but had a few slip ups :-( leaving a couple of extra marks here and there.

I have turned the cute little monkey into a bookmark and had I thought of this earlier could have made him flat, never mind I will probably end up using him myself.

My Uncle gave me the monkey, as I was born in the year of the monkey which also happens to return again this year, Monkey is still around, minus one eye which was dutifully sewn up by Mum many years ago, I remember making Monkey give cuddles to everyone, pulling his arms around their necks and closing his Velcro hands! Little did I know at the time Monkey was in fact strangling everyone….

Indian Elephant

Hello again,

Well I'm slowly catching up to the Bugaboo team and their challenge days, today is day four of their seven days of challenges to celebrate Bugaboo's 6th Birthday.

Today's challenge is a noughts and crosses board, I chose the line down the middle:- Twine, Easel Card and Ribbon. I hope that it does not matter that I have added extras too.

I found another challenge today which is Australian Based Incy Wincy Designs, looking forward to playing along with a new to me challenge, these ladies were also playing tic, tac, toe/noughts & crosses and I have chosen the top line. Embossing, Sentiment and Rhinstone/Pearl.

By the way photographing easel cards is slightly difficult, I'm never sure which picture will actually show the lower portion better, one straight over the top or an oblique shot. So I have two for this one. I hope you can see everything well enough.

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
White 14.8 x 10.5cm card blank
scoring board and bone folder
pink card stock
Bo Bunny double dot paper
Bugaboo image Silhouette Elephant Paisley
Sheena Douglas 'India' embossing folder

Seal of Approval

Hello again,

Well I'm still a day behind on this weeks Bugaboo 6th birthday celebration challenge week with the theme Jungle or Zoo, so today I am sharing day three’s card which needed to follow a colour palette (below). Which I hope you can all see, I have used an old magazine pattern to cut out a cute little seal and his stool, I have again raided my stash of scraps and used many small pieces up and added to my recycle bag. Whenever we went to the zoo the seal show had always just finished and they were chilling out in their pool or laying on the rocky shore.

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
Template from Papercraft inspirations issue 125 (seal and stand)
Blue/green water colour paper (generic)
Yellow paper ‘sand’ from Papercraft Pad Sweet Party
Scraps of varying colours
Sentiment sticker from collected & Co.
Fine line black pen for seal features
Sequins from stash
Adhesives:- Double-sided tape and PVA glue

Cool birthday

Hello again,

Well, since I've skipped out on blogging for the last few weeks I've now got two posts on one day! Definately not the norm...

Okay so today is day two with the lovely ladies over at Bugaboo Stamps and they are celebrating their sixth birthday with some Jungle fever (or Zoo Fever).

I love watching the little fairy penguins when we are at the zoo, which is not very often, these little penguins live up and down the coast of Australia and now frequently run into trouble with dogs, cats and foxes hunting and killing them :'( A recent movie called Oddball tells a tale of some Victorian Penguins who were being killed by foxes at low-tide. It's a great family movie we watched it one night while my niece was visiting. The Little Fairy Penguins who call the zoo home are usually rescued and once rehabilitated cannot be return to the wild.

On to my card, I have chosen a very relaxed and cool Poppi Penguin inner tube  from Bugaboo to create a card for my neighbours sons birthday.

Here's my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank 10.5cm x 14.8cm
Blue cardstock
Sixxiz Embossing folder Tim Hotlz 'Retro Circles'
Digital Sentiment from Birds Cards
Green and Blue paper scraps (Ssshhh don't tell!!! they came off the spine of some 12" papers)
Black fine line pen
Adhesives:- Double sided tape & foam tape
Fussy Cutting Scissors (fiskars)

Bugaboo 6th Birthday Challenge

Hello again,

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year, this is my first post since the beginning of 2016! The first week of the new year was busy, my brother, sister-in-law and niece all came to celebrate a second Christmas with us, my niece did well waiting to open the presents, while my brother collected his wife from the airport and had lunch out together, she had to check all the labels though and tell us which ones were for her, but she wouldn't spill which ones were secrets for us.

My niece received a card making set from her great Uncle and Aunt which lead to sitting at my computer looking for suitable images to make a card to take home to her mum. At one point three of us were colouring in, me, Miss 10 and my sister-in-law. Miss 10 declared that I was the slowest at colouring, as she had finished six pictures and I hadn't finished my first!

On to my first card of the year, I am planning to join the ladies over at bugaboo stamps for their 6th Birthday Challenges, one for each day this week. Today’s Challenge is Wild thing you make my heart sing… which I have taken to mean anything goes Jungle or Zoo animals…

So visiting Australia at the minute are two beautiful Giant Panda’s named Fu Ni and Wang Wang they are in Australia as part of a Conservation, research and breeding program at Adelaide Zoo they are the only Giant Panda’s in the southern hemisphere! I remember visiting Sydney’s Taronga Zoo as a child, when they had two Panda’s visiting around Australia’s Bicentennial. They look lovely and cuddly. I loved my t-shirt to death ;-)

Here’s my card:-

What I used:-
Red scrap card 9cm wide 12cm tall made into a card blank
Martha Stewart Scoring board
Black check paper Pebbles Basics
White scrap card for printing
Typed sentiment in Pharmacy font
Faber-Castell Pencils
