Season’s Greetings

Hello again,

Well, I've had a whole week off creating Christmas cards! I will soon need to turn my attention to creating gift card/cash holders, boxes, tags and wrap items in general, otherwise I think I will have way too many cards for Christmas this year...

It has been very cold and windy here and I have refused to go out in it too much while recovering from another infection, I even slept right through my alarm clock yesterday morning, just as well I didn't have any appointments to get too.

On with the card making!

I have been enjoying the month long challenges on offer with the lovely ladies over at 12 months of Christmas Link-up where you can choose to participate in the challenge or just link-up two (or more) Christmas cards and collect a gorgeous digital paper from Lisa and Monica. This months challenge is Ornaments, each year I make beaded decorations as small gifts for neighbours, colleagues and my friendly local bus drivers. I horrified some, one year hiding a Christmas Spider ornament in a milk carton gift box!

Here's my latest creation:

What I used:-
Green Card stock to make Square Card blank 14cm
Design paper from stash brand unknown
American Crafts card stock ‘Rouge’
Cream card from stash
Fiskars scalloped border punch
Glitzee Glitter glue Red
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils, black fine liner
Fancy Sunbonnet Christmas Tree Digi from Bugaboo Stamps

MFT sentiment strip die
Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Circle and Nesting Scallop circle dies
Stanley Knife, Cutting mat, Steel ruler
Deep Red rhinestones from stash
Adhesives- P.V.A. glue, foam tape, Double-sided tape, glue stick

After finishing this card I used some scraps from my table top and another digi I coloured to create a quick gift tag

Quilted Card

Hello again...

Well this is my second birthday card in two days (the other will be posted after it has been received), this one is going to another family history friend who has also taken up quilting in recent months.

I had a plan in mind for this card of a general plain repeated pattern quilt but Papercraft Inspirations magazine templates came to the rescue with a lovely pattern to create in just nine squares. Living across the world has its benefits, the patterns are released online to coincide with the UK release of the magazine, by the time the magazine makes it across the world and into our newsagencies it could be three or four months later (unless you subscribe), so using the patterns completely unaided by full colour images leaves you free to envisage your own end product.

Here's my card

I remember seeing this pattern during high school textiles while we were studying quilt making for our final exams, including creating our very own quilts as a major project. The tulips are very pretty as quilted squares and I was impressed at how well they worked in miniature for the card. I used my pierced square dies and so that the piercing continues across the triangles I used a larger square to add the piercing where required, only missing the corner piece.

What I used:-

A4 white card to create square easel card blank
White card
Wild rose studio paper pack
MFT Pierced square die
Button from stash
Lily of the valley Birthday stamp
Black ink pad
Craft Mat, Stanley knife & steel ruler
Kaisercraft 2mm bling (on sentiment)
Jute cord
Mini pegs from stash

Adhesives- P.V.A. glue, Double-sided adhesive paper, double-sided tape, Foam tape

A Real Christmas in July

 Hello again…

Well today is the last day of the Christmas in July Challenge over at Bugaboo’s Catch the Bug blog, today’s Challenge is to use this week’s freebie Digi AND choose a recipe from a variety of nine different Present boxes. I have chosen to use box nine the last one on the end, Ribbon, Image and Stitching.

On the weather front yesterday we awoke to a massive dump of snow for the area I live in making our neighbourhood in to a true Winter Wonderland.

Friends in other towns had over 30cm of snow but we got a little less around 20cm over everything, but it never lasts long and most had melted before the end of the day leaving little patches here and there in the deep shady areas in our yard. I simply have to share:-)

Santa is getting a suntan!

Hello again...

Well we are up to day six over at Bugaboo stamps today and I am again joining in the week long Celebration Christmas in July, which seems to be a popular subject at the minute with several challenge blogs playing host to the same theme.

So today's challenge over at Catch the Bug is Oldie but a goodie + a photo challenge which you can see below:-

I have used two of Jodie’s stamps Tropical Santa Buried and Bugaboo Brat beach ball in combination with a variety of die cut shapes. I love that Jodie has some summer Santa images as I live below the equator and Christmas in Australia is hot! Well usually... so I have several Trop Santa digi's from Jodie and each and every one has been well used and well received.

I have taken my inspiration from the general beach scene and created one of my own...I'd like to think that the little boy is surprised to see Santa at the beach; as such this one will likely find its way to our relatives in England or Scotland.

Know that it is all put together I think I would have preferred if both Santa and the boy had been a little larger, but as they are well stuck down it will need to stay as is…

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
12.5 x 17.8cm Card blank
Tropical Haze Paper Set (magazine- Love Cardmaking)
Scissors, Steel Rulercraft mat and Stanley Knife
Bugaboo Digi’s Tropical Santa and Bugaboo Brat boy Beach ball
Faber-Castell and Derwent pencils
Memory box- Coastal Crab die
Poppystamps die- Gentle Leaf
Impression Obsession- Mini Beach set
MFT Sentiment strips
MFT Pierced Circles
Green Colorbox inkpad
Printed sentiment made on Word
Black fine line Pen
Adhesives- P.V.A., Double sided tape, Foam squares

Chicken it twice...

Hello again,

Well today I have created a card using a Digi stamp called Santa Birdbrain and he is from Faith over at From the Heart Stamps, I coloured the image with a combination of Faber-Castell pencils and Derwent pencils and I even tried to draw in the shadow lines to ‘ground’ my image.

This week at Catch the Bug Challenge blog (Bugaboo stamps) the lovely ladies on the design team are celebrating Christmas in July, which many hotels in the area I live in celebrate every year to help fill their rooms up, we call it Yulefest complete with all the dressings of a northern hemisphere Christmas, sometimes we are lucky enough to get snow during Yulefest which starts around the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June and it finally ends at the end of August… oops slightly of topic there :-) never-mind

Each day this week the Ladies at Bugaboo have a different challenge for us and today's challenge is a combination challenge, WednesdayHumour and Bingo challenge which you can see below:-

I have chosen the horizontal line in the middle of the Bingo challenge, Funny Sentiment (which came with my Digi image), Players Choice- Sparkley (bling), and Stripes

Here’s my Card:-

What I used:-
14cm Square Card blank
DCWV Neutrals paper (Big W for those in Australia)
Bo Bunny Elf Magic paper pad
Red Cardstock from scrap box
MFT Pierced Circle die
Mpress rectangle die
X-cut border punch Looped Fringe
Cuttlebug, Stanley knife, Cutting mat and Steel Ruler

Case-ing Ourselves

Hello again,

Well this fortnight over at Case-ing Christmas challenge they have been celebrating Christmas in July with a fabulous blog hop featuring some gorgeous cards made with stamps in both real and digital form from a very kind group of sponsors.

The challenge this time is to case ourselves using a card we have made for another occasion, not Christmas, which I have a limited supply. I eventually decided on this card which was made for a lovely friend whom we met whilst doing our family history, her other hobby is quilt making hence the stitchy make. I have stuck with the layout of the card altering use of washi tape, egg braid and buttons to two ribbons (I rescued the sparkly red one from a present last year) and as none of the buttons in my stash are quite so small I switched them for some star sequins. I recreated the style of the sentiment on my computer, the original Happy Birthday one came from Scrap-al-icious-times. The bingo card is from Sweetly scrapped art.

Several blog challenges are also celebrating Christmas in July this week and today's Bugaboo Stamp challenge is a recipe challenge:

Three embellishments: Star sequins
Two Designer papers: Musical Script, Striped paper, also third which can barely be seen behind the image
Ribbon: two ribbons- red and green

Here’s my Christmas version of my Case card

What I used:-
White card blank 12.7cm x 17.8cm (5”x7”)
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
Digital sentiment created on Word
Tiddly Inks Paper pack from Australian Simply Card magazine 2013
Musical note paper from Papercraft Inspirations magazine
