Tag time…

Hello again,

Well this fortnight over at Christmas stampin’ all year long they have challenged us to make a set of Christmas Gift tags; I'm happily obliging with this challenge. I have also recently rediscovered Pixie's Crafty Workshop and her Challenge Snippet's Playground, this one sounds right up my alley, I have been slowly working my way through my scrap bags to create my cards etc. Di is celebrating her 200th Challenge!!! Many Congratulation's Di.

Earlier this year I decided to clean out my many tiny Christmas scraps and use them up, I decided to use my Owl builder die set called Festive Owls from Cottage Cutz. I cut a huge number of owls out of my scrap bags, and the extra elements with all the little bits using a variety of traditional and modern Christmas papers and then sat peacefully watching the tellie gluing them together complete making them into Santa, Elf and Reindeer owls, this parliament of owls have been hanging around the table for months.

I still have about 20 left so it’s quite possible you will be seeing some more of them later on.

I also made a second set of tags using up my extra reindeer stamps, which I stamped out a few weeks back, making their little jumpers this morning. I stamped a number of reindeer in black and then changed my mind and decided to stamp them in brown leaving me with a surplus as I’m not overly great at stamping, I always do way more than necessary but clear and cushioned backed stamps have made my terrible stamping a whole lot better.

I made an even dozen gift tags, six of each Reindeer and Owls.

Here are my tags:-

What I used:-
Kraft precut tags with plain and curved ends
Twine & Hemp cord
Sizzix and Hero Arts Reindeer Stamp and Die set
Cottage Cutz Festive Owls
Kraft & White card
Various coloured ink pads
Various scrap paper/card
Black fine line pen
Greetings stamps from magazine set

Gingerbread House

Hello again,

I have finally got around to make this months Case-ing Christmas card, this time the Case card was made by Asha and features a lovely stamped church with trees sparkling and ready for Christmas, my inspiration is the church building which I turned into a cute Gingerbread house.

Okay so for this card I had a plan, my plan includes sending a pre-fab locally made gingerbread house kit to my 10 year old niece, my brother and his wife, to build, decorate and eat this Christmas, although if my brother gets hold of it first he may just eat it how it comes ;-) The local business is so popular they have even converted an old church into a fabulous café complete with a playground decked out as you guessed it a gingerbread house.

I have been looking around online for a digital stamp with a gingerbread house featured on it for this card and came across this cute and hilarious digi from Doodle Pantry with the Gingerbread House being devoured by a family of sugar hungry ants, this digi is simply up my alley :-)

Here’s my Card:-

Spring Cornucopia?

Hello again,

I had planned on entering this card in both the stamp of the month and the from the heart stamps sketch with a twist challenge but I unfortunately had a mishap with the original digi that I coloured and had to re-print and colour missing the end of the sketchy challenge, so having already made the card using Imke’s sketch I duly re-coloured and completed the card all be it a little late for one challenge.

This image is the stamp of the month challenge which you can buy here if you would like to enter the challenge and next month Faith will send you another challenge image free!

It feels slightly odd to be entering a autumnal inspired card in the middle of a spring heat wave, it's going to be 28c today way above the norm for here and as a bonus the pollen count is very high... (I hate hay fever)

Here is Imke’s sketch:-

Here’s my card:-

Ex-term-inate, Cel-e-brate

Hello again,

I was asked to make a card for a Dr. Who fan’s 16th Birthday, after looking through my digi stamp file I came up with this Dalek which I got from here, I am definitely not a Dr. Who or sci-fi fan and had to search the net to find out what colours I could use, surprisingly Daleks come in a multitude of colours including a metallic gold number, figuring that a 16 year old boy would rather not have a sparkly gold number I went with blue as the main colour on the Dalek, I did however decide on using some silver glitter card for the sentiment and some glitter glue to add some sheen  to the Dalek.

For those of you who are not Dr. Who fans here's a link to BBC Classic Series- it has apparently been running from 1963-1989 and was once again re-invented in 2005-current, there have been various enemies including the Daleks which I have featured on my card. Wiki also has a page dedicated to Dr. Who.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
White card blank 10.4cm x 14.7cm
Digi image from Micro Jivvy
Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils
MFT Sun ray die
Memory Box Parker lower-case alphabet
Menory Box Parker Numerals
Dark Grey Cardstock (generic cardstock pad)
Black cardstock
Scraps of silver glitter cardstock
Silver Glitzee glitter glue
Stanley Knife, steel rule, craft cutting matt
Adhesives:- Double sided tape, p.v.a. glue, Xryon create a sticker

90th Birthday wishes

Hello again...

I made this card for a friend’s father-in-law’s 90th birthday celebration, her husband and his siblings were all heading home for a planned surprise birthday night out to celebrate their Dad’s milestone birthday. I was asked to make a card for a 90 year old man who was once a builder, this is what I came up with…

Here is my card:-

After passing the card along to my friend she said that her husband was so impressed by my card that he had shown all his children and grand-children via Skype as their sons and their families both live and work overseas at the present time.

At the surprise party all gathered were equally surprised when card and cake had managed to co-ordinate!!! The card was only shown to my friends children and grand children, the cake was arranged by another daughter-in-law with no knowledge of the card I made, spooky how that can happen sometimes...

What I used:-

White 10.5cm x 14.8cm card blank
Reverse side of Core-dinations card in orange-y colour
Darice Embossing folder ‘Brick’
Various card scraps-White, brown, blue, silver, red, Kraft
Woodgrain paper from Merci (Big W in Australia)
Grass and tree border papers from Korea
Xyron Create a sticker
Tool patterns from Papercraft inspirations mini booklet-
Cards for Men and issue 107
Round silver and black square brads
Printed sentiments from Word
Various colours of liquid pearls
Black ink

Butterfly Birthday

Hello again,

I was asked to create a special Japanese card for a friend’s Daughter-in-Laws upcoming birthday which needed to be posted to Japan where her and her family are living and working, the request included keeping it as flat as possible and using Japanese paper of which I have several designs my Aunt having bought them in you guessed it Japan while on holiday many years ago (about five years or so ago)… this is what I came up with…

Here’s my card:-

I was lucky enough for my birthday this year I was gifted a year’s subscription to Australian Simply cards and my brother selected an extra gift as part of the subscription, a set of 5 dies including this lovely background die from Ultimate crafts called Jadene: Free Flourish, I used the die a second time to cut the silver butterflies to make them pop out a little more.

What I used:-
White card blank 10.4cm x 14.7cm
Ultimate crafts die Jadene: Free Flourish
Ultimate Crafts die Invali: Vintage label set
Black card stock
Red and gold Japanese Silk paper
Scraps from stash in metallic silver and white
Glitzee Silver glitter glue
Foam Pads
Sentiment stamp from stash
Memento ‘Tuxedo Black’ Ink pad
Black fine line pen
Adhesives:- P.V.A. glue, double-sided tape
